Privacy Policy for Spyntax
Effective date: April 23, 2026
Spyntax respects user privacy and is designed to support web element inspection and automation code generation for testing purposes.
What Spyntax does
Spyntax helps users inspect webpage elements and generate automation selectors and code snippets for supported testing frameworks and languages.
Information Spyntax may handle
When the user intentionally uses the extension, Spyntax may access and process limited webpage element data needed to provide its core functionality. This may include:
element tag name
element id
element name
placeholder
aria-label
text related to the selected element
href
CSS selector candidates
XPath selector candidates
related label text
supported selector metadata
Spyntax may also store limited local preference data such as:
selected automation engine
selected language
How information is used
Spyntax uses this information only to:
inspect the element selected by the user
rank selector options
generate automation actions and code snippets
improve the accuracy of generated selectors and automation syntax
restore user preferences inside the extension
Backend and third-party processing
To generate automation suggestions, selected element data may be sent to the Spyntax backend. The backend may use AI-based processing services to return automation actions and code suggestions.
This data is used only for the extension’s core functionality and is not sold or used for unrelated advertising purposes.
What Spyntax does not do
Spyntax does not intentionally collect or use data for:
advertising profiles
selling personal information
creditworthiness decisions
lending purposes
unrelated tracking
Spyntax is not designed to collect sensitive personal information unless such information is present in the webpage content the user intentionally chooses to inspect.
Data sharing
Spyntax does not sell user data.
Spyntax only transfers data when necessary to provide its core functionality, such as sending selected element data to its backend or processing services for code generation.
Data retention
Spyntax aims to minimize stored data.
User preference data may be stored locally in the browser to improve usability.
Any backend processing should retain data only as long as needed for service operation, debugging, security, or legal compliance.
User choice
Users control when Spyntax is used.
Spyntax only works when the user actively opens the extension and intentionally interacts with webpage elements.
Users can stop use of the extension at any time by disabling or uninstalling it from Chrome.
Security
Reasonable steps are taken to protect processed information and reduce unnecessary data handling. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children’s privacy
Spyntax is not intended for children.
Changes to this privacy policy
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any updates will be reflected on this page with a revised effective date.
