What is SPSA?

School Psychology Student Assocation (SPSA) is an organization mostly comprised of graduate students from the M.S. Counseling, option in School Psychology program at California State University, Los Angeles. The aim of SPSA is to provide professional development, networking opportunities, and collaboration among students interested in school psychology.

Mission

What do we do?

SPSA helps promote and support the pursuit of professional preparation in the field of School Psychology, with special emphasis with those serving linguistically and culturally diverse populations in urban schools. We also encourage collaboration and cooperation amongst students, alumni, and professionals in the field of School Psychology. SPSA also nurtures continued professional growth through the exchange of scholarly ideas and applied research.

Angel Widjaja

Hi everyone! My name is Angel (she/her/hers) and I'm excited to serve as your Co-President for SPSA this year. During my free time, I enjoy watching TV shows/movies, playing with my pup, and hanging out with loved ones. I'm thrilled to work with other board members to foster connection and provide resources within our school psychology community!

Vy Nguyen

Hello everyone! My name is Vy Nguyen, and I’m excited to serve as Co-President of SPSA this year! I’m currently a second-year student and work as a Registered Behavioral Technician. I love watching movies, exploring different coffee shops, and traveling to tropical destinations. I’m excited to work with everyone in the program this year and look forward to helping build a supportive environment for all of us.

Jennifer Mai

Hi everyone! My name is Jennifer, and I'm thrilled to serve as your treasurer overseeing all the financial matters for SPSA this year. I'm currently a second-year practicum student, and when I'm not busy with school, you'll find me exploring new food spots, spending time with friends and family, or playing cozy games. I'm excited to work alongside the SPSA board to help build connections and create meaningful opportunities for our school psychology community!

Hello everyone! My name is Kimberly, Kim for short, and I am a first-year graduate student in the school psychology program. I am thrilled to serve as your Secretary for SPSA for the 2025-2026 school year! A little about me: I love traveling, going to concerts, trying new matcha spots and collecting unnecessary yet cutesy trinkets. I am very excited to continue meeting you all and building connections within the school psych community! Here’s to a great school year! 😄🎉

Public Relations

Allsion Mariel

Hello, everyone! My name is Alisson, and I am looking forward to serving in the PR team for SPSA this year! I am currently a first-year student, working as a Behavior Interventionist at an elementary school. Apart from my academics, I enjoy movie nights, theme parks, and exploring new food locations. I love spending time with friends, family, and my 11-year-old ESA cat named Angel. I am looking forward to building connections and working with everyone in the program this year!

Public Relations

Victoria Sandoval

Hi everyone! I am one of the public relations officers for SPSA. This is my second year in the program and I am so happy I get to be a part of SPSA so I can get to know my fellow cohorts! I've been teaching for 6 years & can't wait to be a school psych!I am a mom of 2 children (3 & 8), I love Disney, and we are always at the park at some kind of practice. I am so excited for this year, to plan/attend socials and to meet everyone!

Student Engagement Coordinator

Vanessa Lopez

Hi everyone! I am Vanessa Lopez! I am so excited to serve as SPSA's Student Engagement Coordinator for the 2025-26 school year. I’ll be working behind the scenes to host engaging events and facilitating collaboration between cohorts. In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym, baking, and spending quality time with my family, friends, and cat. I am so excited to step into this role for our School Psych fam at CSULA
