What is SPSA?

School Psychology Student Assocation (SPSA) is an organization mostly comprised of graduate students from the Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) Degree in School Psychology at California State University, Los Angeles. The aim of SPSA is to provide professional development, networking opportunities, and collaboration among students interested in school psychology.

Mission

What do we do?

SPSA helps promote and support the pursuit of professional preparation in the field of School Psychology, with special emphasis with those serving linguistically and culturally diverse populations in urban schools. We also encourage collaboration and cooperation amongst students, alumni, and professionals in the field of School Psychology. SPSA also nurtures continued professional growth through the exchange of scholarly ideas and applied research.

Co-President

Kimberly Raymundo

Hello everyone! My name is Kimberly (Kim for short), and I am thrilled to be one of SPSA's Co-Presidents for the 2026-27 school year. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, hanging out with friends and family (and my chihuahua, Nina!), as well as trying new matcha spots (send any recs). I'm excited to work alongside Vanessa, and our amazing board members to create opportunities for connection, professional growth, and community within SPSA while helping make it a welcoming space for everyone. I can't wait to meet everyone and look forward to learning and growing together throughout the year!

Vanessa Lopez

Hi everyone! I'm Vanessa Lopez, and I am excited to serve as the Co-Director of SPSA, alongside Kimberly, for the 2026-2027 school year. I look forward to working with her to coordinate events and professional opportunities to help shape the Cal State LA school psychology community! I love to travel, go to the gym, try new coffee shops, do pilates, and listen to live music in my free time! I am so excited to meet everyone and can't wait to see what we all can accomplish in this next year!

Alisson Jovel

Hello, everyone! My name is Alisson Jovel, and I am excited to serve as the Vice President of SPSA for this year. I am currently a second-year student, and I work as a behavior therapist. In my free time, I love to read, watch movies, shop, and explore new cities. I have two fur babies named Angel and Rubi, and I hope to have many more pets in the future <3 I am looking forward to working with everyone on the team and helping SPSA grow!

Treasurer

Quynh Nguyen

Hi everyone! My name is Quynh Nguyen, and I'm thrilled to serve as your treasurer for SPSA this year. I'm currently a first-year graduate student in the school psychology program. I love watching comics, singing, listening to music, taking photos, and contemporary dancing. I’m excited to work with everyone in the program this year and look forward to helping build a supportive environment for all of us!

Fundraising Chair

Gabino Alamillo

Hello! My name is Gabino Alamillo, and I will be serving as the fundraising chair for SPSA this year. My hobbies include reading, watching movies, playing video games, listening to music, and stargazing. A fun fact about me is that I love snakes.

Lauren Tochikubo

Hi everyone! My name is Lauren and I’m excited to serve as your Secretary for the 2026-2027 school year! I’m currently a first year student, and in my free time I enjoy going to the movies, trying new restaurants and cafes, going on walks, and reading! I look forward to meeting everyone and creating memories!

Communications Coordinator

Nancy Clyne

Hi everyone! My name is Nancy Clyne, and I am so excited to serve as SPSA’s Communications Coordinator for the 2026–27 school year. I’ll be helping keep everyone informed about upcoming meetings, events, socials and other SPSA opportunities while supporting communication between cohorts. In my free time, I enjoy reading fantasy novels, cycling and practicing yoga. I am excited to connect with everyone and contribute to our School Psychology community at CSULA!

Yuvia Ponce

Hi everyone! My name is Yuvia, and I'll be leading the PR Team this year. As a second-year student, I'm excited to take on this role and help showcase everything happening within SPSA. I hope our work keeps you informed, engaged, and connected as we welcome our incoming first-years and continue growing together as future school psychologists. A little about me: I have a teenage son and enjoy listening to music, playing sports, dancing, and learning about random things. I love spending quality time with my son, friends, and family. I look forward to meeting many of you, building meaningful connections, and making this a great year together!

Ivette Arechiga

Hello everyone! My name is Ivette Arechiga, and I am excited to be SPSA's social media chair for the 2026-2027 school year! I am a second year student in the program and I am currently working as a substitute teacher and private tutor. In my free time, I love spending time with my family, cooking new foods, traveling, trying new coffee shops, and doing pilates. I look forward to connecting with everyone and building meaningful relationships within our community throughout the year!

Content and Newsletter Chair

Carina Ramirez

My name is Carina Ramirez, and I am a first-year School Psychology graduate student and SPSA's Content & Newsletter Chair. I can't wait to share all the amazing things SPSA accomplishes this year! In my free time, I enjoy visiting amusement parks, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. This year, I'm most excited about collaborating with our team and building a stronger sense of community on campus while supporting one another's personal and professional growth.

Stephanie McAnnally

Hey! I’m Stephanie McAnnally, and I’m excited to serve as this year’s SPSA Head of Student Engagement for the 2026–27 school year! I work alongside an amazing board to plan fun events, share research involvement opportunities, and help keep our cohorts connected throughout the year. Fun fact: I’ve been stung by both a scorpion and a sea urchin in the past three years! I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone and helping make SPSA feel like home!

Peer Mentor Chair

Juliah Shay Kim

Hello! I'm Juliah and I am excited to serve as the Peer Mentor Chair this year. I enjoy running any chance I get, walking my pups, and seeking out good food throughout SoCal (where my foodies at!). My secret super-power is that I can read dogs minds. So if you're also a runner, an animal lover, or a big foodie like me, I'd love for us to become friends.

Hello everyone! My name is Karla, and I'm excited to serve as one of the SPSA Peer Mentor Chairs for the 2026–2027 school year! I am a second-year practicum student, behavior interventionist, and substitute teacher. Outside of graduate school, I enjoy exploring coffee shops, traveling, Latin dancing, spending time with family and friends, and supporting Real Madrid. I'm looking forward to fostering meaningful connections and helping create a welcoming, supportive community for everyone.

Samantha Avalos

Hi everyone! My name is Samantha Avalos, a second-year student in our program, where I serve as the Research Chair for SPSA and Lab Manager for the CREW Lab. My current research focuses on supporting youth with specific learning disabilities through educational equity and an intersectional lens. In my free time, I love going to the gym, traveling, and spending time with my loved ones. I look forward to representing you all this upcoming semester!
