Spruce, Colorado Blue
Colorado Blue Spruce (Picea pungens) is a slow-growing, evergreen conifer tree native to the Rocky Mountains of the United States. It is known for its distinctive blue-green needles and its conical shape.
Colorado Blue Spruce typically grows to a height of 50 to 75 feet (15 to 23 meters) and a spread of 20 to 30 feet (6 to 9 meters). The tree has a pyramidal shape when young, but it can become more irregular with age. The needles are silvery-blue to blue-green, about 1 to 1.5 inches (2.5 to 3.8 cm) long and are prickly to the touch. The cones are cylindrical and grow to be 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 cm) long.
