The group is formed by researchers and students from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), and collaborators from other institutions like the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), the Federal University of Goiás (UFG) and the University of São Paulo (USP). Alejandra Rada has a bachelor and a master degrees in mathematics from the University of Antioquia, Colombia. She received her PhD degree in statistics from the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics, University of São Paulo, Brazil. Currently, she is an assistant professor at the Center for Mathematics, Computation and Cognition of the Federal University of ABC, Brazil. Her main research interests are concentrated in the area of stochastic processes, information theory and dynamical systems, in particular, in the statistical problems arising from the Poincaré recurrence theory, entropy and applications.

Alex Dias Ramos is associate professor at the Department of Statistics of Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) in Recife, PE. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University Salvador, a Master in mathematics from the Federal University of Bahía and Ph.D. in computational mathematics from UFPE. He has spent a period of research at the University of Utah. His main area of research is probability and statistics, with particular emphasis on the study of ergodicity and existence of phase transition in interacting particle systems.

Caliteia Santana de Sousa is assistant professor at the Department of Statistics of Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) in Recife, PE. She also serves as Head of the Undergraduate Program in Statistics of UFPE. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University Salvador, a Master in mathematics from the Federal University of Bahía and Ph.D. in computational mathematics from UFPE. Her main area of research is probability and statistics, with particular emphasis on biomedical applications, branching processes, Monte Carlo techniques.

Juliana Martins de Assis is assistant professor at the Department of Statistics of Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) in Recife, PE. She holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (telecommunications) from the Federal University of Campina Grande, a Master in neourosciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and Ph.D. in electrical engineering (information processing) from the Federal University of Campina Grande. Her research deals with estimation of information measures and their applications in different areas, such as Neurosciences.

Luz Marina Gómez Gómez is researcher at the Medicine Clinics Hospital of University of São Paulo in São Paulo, SP. She holds a bachelor’s degree in statistics from the National University of Colombia and a Master and Ph.D. in statistics from the University of São Paulo. She has spent periods of research at the Laboratory of Genetics and Molecular Cardiology located in the Heart Institute of the University of São Paulo. Her main areas of research include wavelet analysis, time series and statistical methodologies, with particular emphasis on applications to Biomedical Sciences.

Maria do Carmo Soares de Lima is assistant professor at the Department of Statistics of Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) in Recife, PE. She also serves as Deputy Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Statistics of UFPE. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, and a Master and Ph.D. in statistics from UFPE. Her main area of research is probability and statistics, with particular emphasis on statistical modelling trough techniques of survival analysis.

Pablo M. Rodriguez is assistant professor at the Department of Statistics of Federal University of Pernambuco in Recife, PE. He also serves as the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Statistics of UFPE and as the President of the Brazilian Society of Applied and Computational Mathematics. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the National University of Patagonia "San Juan Bosco" (Argentina) and a Master and Ph.D. in statistics from the University of São Paulo. He has spent periods of research at the State University of Campinas, and the University of Paris Diderot (France). He has also worked for several years at the University of São Paulo in the city of São Carlos. His main areas of scientific interest include stochastic processes, percolation and random graph models, with particular emphasis on the problem of using probabilistic models on graphs to describe the spread of an information and other similar phenomena on a population.

Paula Cadavid is visiting professor at the Center of Mathematics, Computing and Cognition of Federal University of ABC in Santó André, SP. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Antioquia (Colombia) and a Master and Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of São Paulo. She has spent periods of research at the University of São Paulo, and the University of Paris Diderot (France). Her main area of research is algebra, with particular emphasis on problems related to representation of associative algebras, evolution algebras, and homological algebra.

Raydonal Ospina Martínez is Graduated in Statistics - National University of Colombia (2001), Master in Statistics - Federal University of Pernambuco (2004) and PhD in Statistics - University of São Paulo (2008). He holds a postdoctoral studies at the Computer Institute of the Federal University of Alagoas (2014-2015). He was Head of the Department of Statistics of UFPE between 2011 and 2014 and Head of the Graduate Program in Statistics of UFPE between 2017-2019. He is currently Associate Professor, permanent member of the Graduate Programs in Statistics (PPGE) and Economics (PIMES) of the Federal University of Pernambuco. He is currently developing research in statistical and computational modeling of complex systems and its interfaces.
