The SLT or any educator who is conducting the assembly will address the students positively saying good morning to all. One can start this assembly with the sign of the cross: "In the name of the Father, and of the son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen"
This week we will be celebrating the feast of St Agatha. Saint Agatha is a Sicilian saint and was martyred at 20 years. It is said St Agatha and her friends escaped Sicily and found refuge in Malta, hence the catacombs in Rabat named after her. It is also believed through her intercession we got saved from a Turks’ attack and so was named patron of Malta. Let us watch this clip together.
Ask students how the clip made them feel. Ask them what they think the correlation is between St Agatha and the clip is.
St Agatha as the patron saint of Malta is a gentle reminder to appreciate our island. This clip flaunted the beauty of our island and its history. Let us take pride in our cultures and identity, respect our lands – nature, and the people.
Dear God, through the intercession of St Agatha we pray in thanks for our island, its history, and its beauty. We pray you help us realise the beauty of our culture and identity. Amen
