The SLT or any educator who is conducting the assembly will address the students positively saying good morning to all. One can start this assembly with the sign of the cross: "In the name of the Father, and of the son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen"
Introduction
This week on the 31st of January we celebrate the feast of Saint John Bosco. Let us watch this short video about the life of this saint.
St John Bosco was really a hero - his powers were kindness and love. Sometimes we really try hard to imitate a famous person. There is good news for those who want to become like Saint John Bosco. The good news is that it was God who gave St John Bosco these powers and God gives us these same powers too!
We all have the superpowers of kindness and love. These powers will help us show respect towards everyone. With these powers we can show respect towards prisoners and their families, respect towards the homeless and respect towards those who are dealing with addiction such as drug addiction, alcohol addiction and shopping and gaming addictions. When we pray for these people and we show them kindness and love, like St John Bosco we will let these people experience the kindness and love God has for them too.
(As a school you can further the thought and maybe organise a craft with these two superpowers of kindness and love.)
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the life and the example of St John Bosco. We thank you for giving us the powers to be kind, love, and respect everyone. We pray that you will comfort the prisoners, their families, the homeless, those who lost their jobs and all who are suffering from any kind of addiction. Amen.
