All female dancers should wear makeup for the recital including: blush, black winged-eyeliner, mascara, and bright red lipstick. Optional makeup includes: foundation, defined eyebrows, highlighting/contouring and fake eyelashes. Why? The stage lights will wash out a dancer's face because the lights are so bright.
**Dancers ages 2-5 may make modifications to make-up application; dancers should still wear lipstick as a minimum on stage.
All female students must wear their hair slicked back in a low bun, parted in the middle. Using a comb, draw a line down the center of the scalp, and brush hair neatly slicked to each side. Use a "donut bun shaper" to help create the bun.
If your dancer has short hair, it must be pulled away from their face and slicked down.
Fly away hairs should be gelled down or smoothed out with hairspray.
Please use bobby pins and a hair net.
Directions using Donut Form: Good for most hair types. Recommended for young dancers using smaller donut form.
Directions using Bun Maker Tool: Good for medium-to-long length hair.
This tutorial is best for dancers with very long or thick hair that are unable to use a bun form or bun maker tool.
Dancers are required to have tan dance tights for recital. (Please no nylons.)
Always pack a back-up pair of tights for recital.
Tights are available for purchase at the studio.
