Dr. Matthew Levy is a Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a hands-on, academically-oriented specialist in emergency medicine (EM) and emergency medical services (EMS). He is highly respected as a civic leader and nationally recognized for his policy and program implementation in EMS, special operations, and protective medicine, disaster response, and trauma care. With his roots as a frontline EMS clinician and his continued maintenance of his Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) certification, Dr. Levy has built a distinguished career over three decades as an EMS clinician, consistently demonstrating excellence in patient care.
In addition to his role at Hopkins, Dr. Levy serves as the Medical Director for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Department of Emergency and Disaster Health Services. He also holds a faculty appointment at the National Study Center for Trauma and EMS at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is also the Chief Medical Officer and EMS Medical Director for the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, as well as the EMS Medical Director for the Central Maryland (State of Maryland, Region III) EMS System.
Dr. Levy is a board-certified Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP) and a Fellow of the Academy of Emergency Medical Services (FAEMS). He is an accomplished EMS program implementer and researcher, and a staunch advocate for resuscitation systems of care. Renowned as a passionate educator and mentor, he promotes outcomes-driven prehospital care and resuscitation practices. Dr. Musee is a highly skilled anesthesiologist‑and intensivist serving at St. Patrick Hospital, where he is widely admired for his clinical excellence, calm leadership, and deep compassion for patients and colleagues alike. He completed both medical school and graduate training at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, remaining there to pursue residency in Anesthesiology followed by advanced fellowship training in Critical Care.
His commitment to exceptional, patient‑centered care is matched only by his humility and kindness—qualities that have made him a trusted voice in high‑acuity moments and a valued member of the multidisciplinary care team.
After discovering a love for Montana, he and his family chose to make it their home. Outside the hospital, Dr. Musee enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, snow sports, reading, and the occasional video game.
Dr. Hurd was born in Billings and raised in Missoula, Montana. After completing his undergraduate studies at Princeton University, he went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He then pursued rigorous surgical training at the University of Washington, completing both a General Surgery residency and a Vascular Surgery fellowship.
Fully board certified in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery, Dr. Hurd has been practicing in Missoula since 2019. His clinical work spans the full spectrum of vascular surgery, including both open surgical procedures and advanced endovascular techniques.
In addition to his civilian practice, Dr. Hurd is a dedicated member of the United States Army Reserve. In which he has served on Forward Surgical Teams in both Afghanistan and East Africa, providing life‑saving care in demanding environments.
Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Hurd is a devoted husband and a proud father of two children. He is an enthusiastic hockey fan, coffee lover and an avid hunter who enjoys spending time in Montana’s wilderness.
Dr. Bowe completed his medical education at the University of Washington School of Medicine, where he went on to pursue both his General Surgery Residency and his Trauma Surgery Fellowship, solidifying his foundation in high-acuity surgical care. His advanced training at UW shaped his deep commitment to trauma systems, critical care, and evidence‑based surgical practice.
Today, Dr. Bowe serves as one of St. Patrick Hospital’s Intensivists, providing expert care to critically ill and injured patients in the intensive care unit. His combined background in trauma and critical care allows him to bring a comprehensive, multidisciplinary perspective to the trauma team.
Outside of his professional role, Dr. Bowe is married to an ICU nurse, and together they are the proud parents of two children. He enjoys a rich life in Montana’s outdoors—especially fly fishing, running, and appreciating high‑quality coffee wherever he finds it.
Dr. Guffin is a highly skilled emergency medicine physician. Hailing from Montana, he embarked on his medical journey at the University of Oregon and honed his craft at the University of Washington's prestigious medical school. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, where he became adept at handling high-pressure situations with precision and expertise.
Certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Guffin is committed to delivering top-notch care in critical circumstances.
Away from the emergency room, Dr. Guffin is a true outdoorsman, embracing the landscape of Montana through skiing, hiking, and rafting. He is also a devoted father who enjoys chasing around his three children. With a strong connection to his roots and a passion for his work, Dr. Guffin is a respected figure in both his field and his community.
David Hess‑Homeier, MD, is a board‑certified Emergency Medicine attending physician at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana. He received his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, one of the nation’s leading academic medical institutions, and completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania, a program renowned for its clinical rigor and leadership in emergency care.
A Missoula native, Dr. Hess‑Homeier is proud to bring his advanced training back to Western Montana, where he is dedicated to delivering high‑quality, compassionate care to his home community. Outside the hospital, he can most often be found exploring Montana’s landscapes and spending time outdoors with his family.
