Milestone 2 was our steps to update our webserver to protect it and negate any weakness that may exist. It was full of difficult tasks that we struggled and had to make some hard decisions and compromises to get the project done it time. We focused on the basics first such as changing passwords to follow our password polices, then updating WordPress and Red Hat Linux after some trial & error. We then focused on getting Apache to receive security patches after not able to get it to its latest version and figure out ways that we can harden around MariaDB’s weaknesses due to not being able to update it. We would also pick some tools out to see if we can crack the other teams system such as Wpscan and Wireshark.
