Registration link (This registration is for ALL tournaments hosted by Spotsy Chess) 

WHAT: Four Prize sections. 1. HS 2. MS 3. ES 4. Primary (Grade 3 and younger)

Unrated sections: No USCF membership requirement. Any student can play. We will show you what to do. If you know the moves- you’ll be fine. Many players in unrated sections have never been in a tournament. 

Check-in: All sections. 9:15am till 9:50am play all 3 – 4 rounds. Late arrivals still get to play – just fewer remaining games. 

Registration: SpotsyChess.org or with your Thornburg Librarian or show up at the door and register then. 

Entry Fee: $10/child -Or- see Principal for scholarship. 

How chess tournaments work: Each player will play a set number of games. Usually four games. The best performance of each group will be the first-place winner. 

There is no elimination in chess tournaments. However, you may leave early or skip a round (game) if you need to. Just let the Tournament Director know. You are eligible for prizes based on the number of games you win, even if you can’t play the whole day. 

Prizes: Trophies to the top two scorers in HS, M.S (6th, 7th, 8th grades) ES (5th – 6th), Primary Grades 3 down thru preschool. 

Pick up time: Most sections will be finished by 2:15PM. Awards are presented as soon as a section has finished. Plan on transportation home by 2:30
