Spotafilm ("the App," "we," "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and how it is used.
What Information We Collect
Screenshots and Images
When you use the SPOT feature, the screenshot you select is processed to identify the movie or TV show shown in it. To do this, the image is sent securely to third-party services that perform visual recognition and matching. We do not require you to create an account, and images are not linked to your identity, name, or any personal profile.
Purchase Information
If you subscribe to Spotafilm Pro, your purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment details, and we do not collect or retain purchase history on our own servers.
Recents and Watchlist
Movies and shows you've identified or saved are stored locally on your device. This information is not uploaded to any account or server we control, and we cannot access it.
What We Do Not Collect
Spotafilm does not use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, does not collect advertising identifiers, does not require account creation or login, and does not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Third-Party Services
To identify movies and shows from your screenshots, Spotafilm relies on the following third-party services, each of which processes image data solely to return identification results:
Anthropic (Claude) — image analysis for identification
TMDB (The Movie Database) — movie/TV metadata and streaming availability
SerpAPI / Google Lens — visual search matching
ImgBB — temporary image hosting used during the identification process
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data sent to them. These services are used solely to power the App's core identification feature, not for advertising or tracking.
Data Retention
Screenshots submitted for identification are used only to return a result and are not retained by us afterward. Any temporary hosting of an image (e.g., via ImgBB) is transient and tied only to completing the identification request.
Children's Privacy
Spotafilm is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your Choices
Because Spotafilm does not require an account, there is no personal profile to access, update, or delete. If you have questions about a specific screenshot you submitted, you may contact us using the information below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
