CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
The Sports Satellite at the Conference on Complex Systems 2026 "Complexity and Science" invites submissions exploring sports as complex systems. We welcome contributions from researchers and practitioners applying complexity science, network analysis, computational modeling, and data analytics to sports-related questions.
Themes
The rapid growth in sports data availability—from tracking sensors to video analysis—has opened new opportunities for understanding sports through the lens of complexity science. We seek contributions addressing fundamental and applied questions in sports analytics, including the analysis of team coordination and collective behavior, development of performance metrics and evaluation frameworks, strategic optimization and tactical analysis, prediction models, spatial-temporal dynamics, and the broader organizational and socio-economic aspects of sports systems. We particularly encourage work that bridges theoretical approaches from complexity science with practical applications in sports performance and analytics.
Submission Guidelines
Submissions should consist of a one-page abstract (PDF format) including title, authors, affiliations, and main text. Accepted contributions will be presented either as oral presentations (15-20 minutes) or posters. Authors may indicate their preferred format; the organizers will determine final presentation format.
