The Creative and Digital Arts Project is an initiative hosted by Valued Lives under its capacity building brand, Empowered Connections. Funded through a grant from the Department of Social Services, the project brings together a series of workshops led by a diverse range of artists, all exploring the themes of ableism and inclusion through creative and digital mediums. This series will culminate in a public exhibition showcasing participants' works at the Belmont Hub in March 2026.
This workshop focuses on exploring your invisible (or visible) diversities and the challenges that come with them. We’ll guide you through designing a way to express this part of yourself without needing to have uncomfortable conversations.
We'll start by brainstorming and deciding on a graphic that represents the message you want to share. You’ll then spend some time drawing—whether traditionally or digitally. I’ll help you digitize your design so it’s ready for printing on three different materials: stickers, shrink film, and card stock.
Using these prints, we’ll create a variety of items: stickers, a pin, a magnet, a keychain, and a double-sided magnetic bookmark.
At the end of the session, there will be an opportunity to share the meaning behind your design and why you chose it. Plus, you'll be invited to contribute to our sticker-bombed mirror, creating a visual display of collective expression that will be a part of the project’s exhibition in 2026.
