In 2007 they recorded their debut EP People Like People Like You, which combined their off-kilter indie with more flowing structures influenced by post-rock and classical music. And it sold out quickly. The release also lead to an appearance on the main stage at the Big Chill festival where People Like People Like You quickly sold out at the Rough Trade stall. They also won the Sound 2008 competition and played at Rockness.

The music, composers, (and) conductor - all have ties to the Metro music scene. A concert highlight, the world premiere of acclaimed composer Evan Meier, Chair, Music Theory and Composition at the Levine School and Grammy nominated DC based hip-hop artist Christylez Bacon. WSO Music Director, John Devlin commissioned and collaborated on the piece, Migrations in Rhythm, in which music and lyrics survey the history, connections and cultural richness in the evolution of American music.

At the Council meeting, Republican U.S. Rep. Chip Roy spoke in favor of preserving music venues that have operated in the city for decades and have contributed to the city's live music reputation. Name-checking now-closed venues such as Threadgill's, Shady Grove, and the Nutty Brown Amphitheater, Roy pledged to work with the city at the state level to limit the displacement of "old Austin" favorites as dense residential and commercial developments continue to move in.

Beyond the Spoke's possible historic designation, a handful of other music venues could be included in an unprecedented series of real estate deals the AEDC currently negotiates. The plans would see up to $19.4 million in city money used to purchase and preserve the venues as cultural trust properties. The process, which is a first for the city, would bring about public ownership of music venues and other creative spaces. Current or new operators would run and profit from the business activities without having to worry about rising rents or redevelopment pressures.

The Homegrown Music Festival is an annual community celebration of the original and diverse music of Duluth, Minn. and its surrounding communities. What started in 1999 with ten acts has matured to an eight-day community-wide local music, arts and cultural extravaganza.

Janie and the Spokes is a four-piece alternative rock band that has spent the pandemic years creating upbeat original music. Guitarist Jane Aas and drummer Garth Anderson handle the songwriting, collaborating with electric guitarist Peter Aas and bassist Jordan Ash to bring those works to life. Their music has layers of jams and harmonies, and occasionally is interspersed with B-side covers. The group will be releasing its first album of original music this spring.

Namely, improving the respect paid to music as an academic subject while concurrently increasing the funding and resources available to deliver it successfully to all pupils, irrespective of special needs, household income or privilege.

Lastly, as reported in Education HQ, Music education must not be only for those already with the background or the early talent or the pre-existing motivation to access it. Music education must be for all, because music itself is for all.

More than that, though, we know well, both instinctively and through academic study over decades, the powerful positive effect of music on education itself. Learning music has a significant impact on auditory processing that is vital to early language acquisition and reading development.

The same applies to the cognitive capacity acquired in learning music for the structuring, sequencing and pattern discernment that are essential to mathematics, scientific reasoning, analysis and argument.

We arrived at about 6.30pm, and had dinner in the dining room where a country music singer was performing. The dinner itself was delicious and, after all, I am reviewing this as a restaurant as well as a dance hall. We shared quesadillas with chicken and beef, both of which were a perfect Mexican version of one of my favourites, and also so huge they could have been a meal all by themselves.

Unlike Endel, which generates its sounds using AI, Spoke employs artists, trained by a team of clinical psychologists, therapists and neuroscientists to produce music to help users achieve a desired mental state which, claims Spoke, has the same impact as therapeutic practices.

The Broken Spoke opened for business as a cafe on November 10, 1964. The name was inspired by the owner's memories of a movie (starring James Stewart) called Broken Arrow, along with his fondness for wagon wheels. When customers started dancing to music from the jukebox, White moved the pool tables and added more room. People were still dancing anywhere they could, including out on the dirt parking lot underneath the big oak tree. Other customers played a few of the songs they had written. Never one to pass up an opportunity, White expanded the Broken Spoke to its current size in 1966, when he added a dance floor.

The Broken Spoke was inducted into the Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame in 2010. The club celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 2014. The Broken Spoke features live music nightly, Tuesday through Saturday. The kitchen, source of the Spoke's famous chicken fried steak, is open from 11:00 in the morning until 10:30 (weekdays) or 11:30 at night. "The Tourist Trap Room," created as part of the club's twenty-fifth anniversary celebration, contains an array of country music memorabilia. Texas Highways, National Geographic, and Entertainment Weekly have honored the Broken Spoke for its down-home cooking and traditional Texas honky-tonk atmosphere. 006ab0faaa
