This Policy explains what data the Spoka Reader app ("App") processes and how it is used. By installing or using the App, you agree to this Policy.
SECTION 1. PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW
Spoka Reader is an offline-first e-book reader with text-to-speech, notes and reading statistics, import/export and backups, optional WebDAV sync, translation, and AI assistance.
SECTION 2. DATA WE PROCESS
Local files and notes: Books, notes, highlights, backups, and settings are stored on your device. They are not sent to the developer and are shared only if you enable sync or export.
WebDAV sync (optional): Sync works only with the server you provide. The WebDAV URL, login, and password are stored locally and used only to connect to your server. Books, notes, and backups are sent only to your own WebDAV.
Translation and AI features: Selected text, book titles, or reading history may be sent to translation services (Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, DeepL) and AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, DeepSeek/OpenRouter, etc.). This happens only when you start translation or AI chat. API keys you enter are stored locally and never shared with the developer.
Purchases: Subscriptions and purchases use Google Play Billing and RevenueCat. These services may receive device identifiers, device model, OS/app version, country/currency, product details, and subscription status. We do not receive your payment card information.
Analytics and diagnostics: Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Sentry collect technical data such as device identifiers, device model, OS/app version, IP address (used for country detection and abuse prevention), interaction events, logs, and crash reports. This helps improve stability and product quality.
System permissions:
All-files access and storage permissions are used only for importing and exporting books, and for manually triggered backups and restores.
Internet access is used for sync, translation, AI features, and purchases.
Foreground service, media playback, and wake lock permissions are used for stable text-to-speech playback.
SECTION 3. HOW WE USE DATA
To provide reading, text-to-speech, translation, AI assistance, and optional sync.
To process purchases and manage subscriptions.
To analyze usage and fix issues through analytics and crash reports.
To prevent fraud and maintain security.
SECTION 4. SHARING WITH THIRD PARTIES
We do not sell your data. Data is shared only with services required for the App to work:
Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics for telemetry and crash reports.
Sentry for error debugging.
RevenueCat and Google Play Billing for subscription processing.
Translation and AI providers for translating text or answering AI queries. Only the text you send is transmitted.
Your WebDAV server receives your files only if you enable sync.
All supported services use encrypted HTTPS connections.
SECTION 5. RETENTION AND DELETION
Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
Data stored on your WebDAV server remains there until you remove it using your server tools.
Analytics and crash data are kept by Firebase and Sentry according to their own policies.
Purchase records are kept by Google Play and RevenueCat as required for billing and refunds.
API keys for translation and AI can be deleted in App settings.
SECTION 6. YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS
You can choose not to enable WebDAV sync.
You can choose not to use translation or AI features.
You can revoke file access permissions in the OS (import/export/backup may stop working).
Uninstalling the App removes local data.
For access, correction, or deletion of data stored by third-party services, refer to their privacy policies or contact us at support@spoka.team.
SECTION 7. SECURITY
We use encrypted connections and minimize the data that is transmitted. Local data is protected by operating system permissions. No system is fully secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
SECTION 8. CHILDREN
The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
SECTION 9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Policy when features or legal requirements change. The publication date shows the current version. For significant changes, we will attempt to notify users in the App.
SECTION 10. CONTACT
