Effective Date: April 14, 2026
Splitty (“we,” “our,” or “the App”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information through our "Device-First" approach.
1. Local Data Privacy (Device-First Storage) Splitty is designed to function primarily offline. Your privacy is our priority:
Offline Storage: All expense data, including group names, participant names, amounts, and categories, is stored locally on your device.
No Cloud Sync: We do not upload your financial or personal data to any external servers.
No Accounts: Splitty does not require a login. We do not collect your email address, phone number, or identity.
2. Advertising and Third-Party Services To keep Splitty available for free, we use Google AdMob to display advertisements.
Data Collected by AdMob: The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and use certain data for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention purposes. This includes:
Device Identifiers: Such as Apple's IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) or Google Advertising ID.
Technical Data: IP address, device make/model, and mobile carrier.
Interaction Data: Information about how you interact with ads displayed in the app.
Personalization & Tracking: On iOS, we adhere to the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. We will only track your activity for personalized ads if you provide explicit consent.
User Control: You can manage or disable personalized ads through your device settings or via the "Show Ads" toggle within the App Settings.
3. Information Collection and Use
User-Provided Information: Names and expense descriptions entered manually stay exclusively on your device for "Who owes Whom" calculations.
Image Reports: The App requires temporary access to device storage only when you choose to generate and export image-based expense summaries.
4. Technical Permissions
Network Access: Used solely to load advertisements and does not transmit your personal expense data.
Haptics/Sound: Used only for user interface feedback; no data is collected.
5. Data Security Since your data is stored locally, its security depends on your device’s security. We utilize secure database technology (Hive) to manage your local records.
