SplitTrek - Privacy Policy
Effective date: 17 June 2026

App package: com.inayat.splittrek
This policy describes what information the SplitTrek Android app collects, how it is stored, and what is shared. SplitTrek is an offline-first group-expense ledger; it does not require an account and does not send your trip data to any server we control.
What SplitTrek stores on your device
SplitTrek lets you create trips, add members (by name), record expenses with shares, and record settlement payments. All of this data is stored locally on your device in a Room (SQLite) database named split_trek_database.
The data we store on-device includes: trip names you choose; member names you type in (free-form labels - SplitTrek does not verify real identities); financial entries you record yourself - expenses (description, total amount in INR, payer, date), per-member expense shares, and settlement payments between members (from, to, amount, optional note, date); and app-local settings.
SplitTrek itself does not transmit any of this data off your device. We do not collect your phone number, email, contacts, precise location, microphone, or files outside the app's own storage. The only data that leaves your device is (a) content you explicitly Share or Back up, and (b) the advertising data described in Section 5 below, which is collected by Google AdMob, not by us, to show ads in the free version.
What leaves your device
SplitTrek runs entirely on-device. There is no SplitTrek backend or login. Data leaves your device only when you choose to do so: the Share button builds a plain-text summary and hands it to the Android system share sheet (e.g. WhatsApp, Email); Backup save writes a JSON file of your database to a location you pick via the file picker (nothing is uploaded); Backup restore reads a JSON file you select and replaces your current data with it.
Google Play Auto Backup
SplitTrek disables Android Auto Backup (allowBackup=false), so your trip data is not automatically copied to Google Drive. To move data between devices, use the in-app Backup/Restore feature. Aside from the advertising data in Section 5, SplitTrek does not transmit your trip or expense data to any server.
Children
SplitTrek is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. The app does not require an account and stores only what the user manually enters.
Advertising (Google AdMob) and Purchases
Ads (free version): the free version shows ads via Google AdMob. To serve ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process your device's advertising identifier (Advertising ID) and related device/usage information. This data is handled by Google, not by us, and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can reset your Advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization in your device Settings > Privacy > Ads.
Removing ads: purchasing SplitTrek Pro (a one-time in-app purchase) removes all ads. Once Pro is active, the AdMob SDK no longer requests ads.
Purchases (Google Play Billing): in-app purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment details - Google handles the transaction. We only receive a confirmation that the purchase is owned, which we store locally to unlock Pro features.
No other third parties: SplitTrek does not include any analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs. Apart from AdMob and Google Play Billing, your data is not shared with any third party.
Security
Your SplitTrek data lives in your device's app-private storage. Other apps cannot read it without root access. Backup JSON files you export are saved unencrypted to the location you choose - please protect them like any personal document.
Your choices
Delete data: use the in-app Delete actions, or uninstall the app. Export/move data: use the in-app Backup feature. Reach out: email inayatenterprises7@gmail.com for any privacy question or deletion request.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will publish the updated version at this URL and update the effective date above. Continued use of SplitTrek after a change indicates acceptance.
