Dr. Jyotirmoy Karjee, Ph.D.

Dr. Jyotirmoy Karjee received his Ph.D. (Engineering) from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, in 2014. He was awarded the prestigious European HERITAGE Erasmus Mundus Fellowship for postdoctoral research at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany. He earned his B.E. in Electronics Engineering and M.E. in Information Technology in 2003 and 2005, respectively.

He is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at École Centrale School of Engineering, Mahindra University, India. Prior to joining academia, he served as an Architect at Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore (SRIB) and as a Scientist at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Research & Innovation Labs, in addition to working in several industry and academic leadership roles. He has over 20 years of research and development experience spanning academia, industrial R&D, Ph.D, postdoctoral research, and teaching.

His research focuses on "Artificial Intelligence for Next-Generation Wireless Networks and Intelligent Computing", encompassing Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Generative AI (Large Language Models), Edge AI, Distributed and Split Computing, Computer Vision, Multimodal AI and Quantum Computing. His research aims to develop intelligent, scalable, and resource-efficient solutions for 5G/6G wireless networks, edge intelligence, distributed AI systems, multimedia processing (video, audio, and text), XR/Metaverse for next-generation communication and computing infrastructures.

At Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore, he led innovations in AI-driven Wireless networking, Computing infrastuctures, and Split Computing, making significant technical contributions that were recognized within Samsung Research and contributed to 3GPP standardization activities. He played a key role in developing scalable AI solutions while leading high-performing research and engineering teams. At TCS Research & Innovation Labs, he worked on advanced AI/ML, wireless networking, IoT, robotic communications, and intelligent networked systems, collaborating with multidisciplinary R&D teams and mentoring engineers and Ph.D. interns. His research on robotic communication and link prediction resulted in several high-impact publications and patented innovations.

Dr. Karjee has authored numerous papers in leading international journals and conferences and has been granted multiple patents. He received the Best Paper Award at the 3rd International Conference on Recent Trends in Information, Telecommunication and Computing (2012). He is a Senior Member of IEEE and an active Member of ACM.
