Tentative First Steps in Spirituality
The concept or idea of spirituality comes initially from religion where a spiritual person was said to have been closer to their supreme being (for Christians, that would be God) and Holy Spirit and its teachings than a non-spiritual person.
As time went by, the description changed until we now have a situation where religion is separated from spirituality.
The way we see it now is living life using free expression and meditation to reach a person's true self and learning to become one with oneself.
Through deep meditation, it is possible to reach deep inside the hidden depths of the mind that are inaccessible to us during our normal, conscious, waking state. In this meditative state, a seasoned practitioner can seek out and find answers to questions and solutions to problems that would not be possible to the conscious, rational mind.
When starting out on a spiritual journey as an alternate lifestyle to the one you have been leading, it can seem difficult to comprehend just how powerful our mental capacity actually is when it is freed from the shackles of conscious awareness and allowed to probe the depths of the unconscious.
However, with practice and patience, a person can learn to plumb those depths through meditation. When solutions to previously impossible seeming problems are discovered for the first time, it can be something of an enlightening moment, for certain!
