Social prescribing is a way for healthcare professionals (like GPs, nurses, or allied health) to connect people with non-medical supports in the community to improve their health and wellbeing.
Instead of only prescribing medication, a clinician might refer someone to activities or services that address social, emotional, or environmental needs.
Examples
Joining a walking group or park-based activity 🚶
Arts, music, or cultural programs 🎨
Community gardening or volunteering 🧑🌾
Support groups or social clubs 🙌
Financial, housing, or employment support services 🏠
