DCS World Mods

DCS World has a dedicated modding community, and there are many free aircraft mods that are available for download.  All of the mods listed below are completely free to use, and unless specified otherwise do not require you to own any DCS: World payware modules (the ones that do use the same systems as the aircraft in DCS: Flaming Cliffs 3).

F-4B/C Phantom II Mod by VSN

This mod has it all!  An EFM, clickable cockpit, and custom radar!  Known as "St. Louis Slugger", "Rhino", and "The World's Largest Distributor of MiG Parts", the F-4 Phantom is one of the most prolific jet fighters in the world.

SK-60 Mod by BAAS Dynamics

The SK-60 is a Swedish-built, high wing jet trainer that entered service in 1967.  It has a very limited ground attack capability.

OV-10A Bronco Mod By Split-Air

From the developer: "The OV-10A Bronco mod is shared with an entirely "EFM" flight model, which makes the immersion even stronger. Collision and damage model are also included, with realistic weapons. The cockpit has highly realistic and immersive textures and is partly clickable which will make you experiment the Vietnam crisis from the inside ! This is only the "V1", and more version will be available later, with some improvements and additions for the future."

Community A-29B Super Tucano Mod

From the developers: "This is a free, open source, SFM, A-29B independent module for DCS World. By independent it is meant that it does not require any other modules to work.

All aircraft systems are implemented in Lua and can be freely used in other non-paid DCS World Modules."

VNAO T-45C Goshawk Mod

From the developers: "The T-45A is the first iteration of the goshawk trainer that is currently in use by the US Navy. The McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) T-45 Goshawk is a highly modified version of the British BAE Systems Hawk land-based training jet aircraft. Manufactured by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) and British Aerospace (now BAE Systems), the T-45 is used by the United States Navy as an aircraft carrier-capable trainer.

VNAO has decided to bring this mod to the community as a way of providing yet one more beautiful carrier-capable aircraft to the ever-popular carrier operations platform. This aircraft fills a niche that was left empty when other trainers, such as the T-2 Buckeye, were cancelled."

Community A-4E Skyhawk Mod

From the developers: "The Community A-4E-C represents more than three years of work on behalf of the development team. We’re proud to present the most comprehensive DCS World module to date, boasting such capabilities as air-to-ground radar and carrier operations. The A-4 was a cold war workhorse, providing a capable, reliable light attack aircraft to dozens of nations around the world. From the Sinai Desert to the Jungles of Vietnam, the A-4 was a common sight above cold war battlefields."

F-22A Raptor Mod by Grinnelli Designs

From the developer: "The F-22A Raptor is a free mod for DCS World. The project started in early 2018 with a goal of learning how to create a module for DCS from the ground up. The original mod utilized the Flaming Cliffs 3 F-15C module flight model. As I learned more and more using the F-15C cockpit was simply not acceptable so we created a cockpit from scratch. The new version of the mod circa 2019 featured the same F-15C Flight model with a new unique cockpit (not clickable) that had a few custom MFD pages you could cycle thru. Eventually, ED made some changes to they way mods can be made and distributed that caused the F-22A to fail. I moved my attention to other projects including the Edge 540 Mod featured in the Virtual Air Racing Series and Virtual Blue Angels F-4J Phantom, working with some of the best minds in the community. Recently, the use of the original F-22A mod in YouTube videos has sparked an renewed interest in the content. In October of 2020 I decided give the entire module a full overhaul.

Thank you all for the positive feedback and continued support. ~Grinnelli"

JAS-39 Gripen Mod

This mod uses FC3 avionics, but is one of the best high-fidelity mods out there!

From the creators: "We are a small group of enthusiastic players that wanted to have a JAS-39 Gripen in DCS. We are currently using the VSN model with their animations and are improving this great module. The team is adding a cockpit, authentic and unique weapons, making modifications to the SFM (based on Gripen pilot feedback) and we are planning for much more in the future. The project started in February 2021, and in a very short amount of time, we achieved a basic FC3 module, join us on Discord and find out more! We would like to thank the Community A-4E-C team for sharing some code, Grinnelli for his help with the brakes axis, Gonzalodesanta for his support, Megalax for his textures, VSN Team for sharing their model with us, the DCS modding community for ideas and tips and Eagle Dynamics for this wonderful sandbox."

Bell UH-1B/C Huey Hog Gunship

A standalone EFM-driven helicopter mod for DCS World.  This mod has a standalone cockpit and weapons systems.  A great addition to any Vietnam War-Era scenario.

Community AH-6J "Little Bird" Helicopter Mod

From the developer: "I have created a basic helicopter EFM and used the AH-6J Littlebird as the demo aircraft. I started this project because there are no DCS helicopters that are completely free (i.e. don't require the Ka-50 module). Therefore I created this EFM, which can be used as a template for other helicopter mods, as an open source project. I chose the AH-6 due to the simplicity of its cockpit and systems and most likely won't be made by an official 3rd party."

Su-57 "Felon" by CubanAce

One of the most OVERPOWERED mods ever made for DCS, the Su-57 is extremely fast, maneuverable, and stealthy, and definitely a match for aircraft like the F-22 in a turning fight (or in this case, a thrust-vectoring fight!).  CubanAce has done a fantastic job updating this mod for DCS 2.7.
