Buy water every year or treat it yourself? A case of water supply-demand of a drought faced town

A hypothetical case was developed to compare between two options to balance the water supply-demand for a drought faced town. The options were to buy water every year from the nearby city or enhance the existing wastewater treatment plant and treat the water inside the town. Both options required subsequent tradeoffs therefore a thorough assessment was necessary. The method of life cycle cost analysis was applied to determine the economic feasibility. Environmental and social impacts are also discussed.
