I’m Abbas, the owner of Spice Cottage Homestay, started in 2017 and has received over ten thousand tourists so far. Located near Thekkady and Periyar forests, it makes for a peaceful place to enjoy the sounds of birds and insects. Unlike other hostels, it creates an atmosphere like living in your own home. We treat every tourist like our family, from taking them to the tourist spots, providing them with the necessary facilities and making their days unforgettable. Our goal is to create a comfortable space at a low cost.

Tourists are offered the opportunity to sit on the back of an elephant and ride through designated routes in natural settings such as forests or river banks. There are popular activities like elephant baths or showers. Rides can vary in length, with options for short rides (15–30 minutes) or longer ones (up to an hour or more). During this session, you can take photographs with an elephant.

Thekkady is home to popular theatre performances such as Kathakali and Kalaripayattu. These mostly include stories from Mahabharata and Ramayana. Kalaripatu is known as the mother of all martial arts. This happens every day for everyone to see and enjoy.
