NB! Boosting does not accumulate velocity. It also cancels previous velocity. It's purpose is sudden jolting from stationary position as a navigational aid to move in sharp angles.
Spheroid X aims to be a game with simple systems that take little investment to understand. There are only a few core mechanics, endless fuel, and a variety of level challenges to beat. There is no "punishment" for dying, you just start fresh with a better internalization of the map and a timer that starts from 00:00:00. The aim was to create a game with pure gameplay and powerful controls. Another important goal was to create a game with good sense of space (No pun intended (the game is space-themed)).
