Privacy Policy for Spendulum

Spendulum (“the App”) is an income and expense tracker for iPhone and iPad. This policy explains what data the App handles and how it is used.

1. Data stored on your device

The App stores your transactions, categories, subcategories, notes, currency preferences, and any attached photos or files locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework.

2. iCloud sync (optional)

If you are signed into iCloud and have iCloud enabled for the App, your data can sync across your own devices via Apple’s private CloudKit database. This data stays in your personal iCloud account. We (the developer) cannot access it.

3. Data we do not collect

• We do not require you to create an account.

• We do not collect your name, email, or contact information through the App.

• We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

• We do not sell or share your financial data with third parties.

4. Network requests

The App contacts a public exchange-rate service (open.er-api.com) to fetch currency conversion rates. Only currency codes are sent; no personal or transaction data is included in these requests. Rates may be cached on your device.

5. Permissions the App may request

• Camera – only when you choose to attach a photo of a receipt or bill.

• Microphone and Speech Recognition – only when you use voice dictation / AI Quick Add. Recognition is performed on-device when supported.

• Photo library / Files – only when you choose to attach an existing image or file.

These permissions are used solely for the features you trigger. Denying a permission simply disables that feature.

6. On-device AI features

Text extraction from images (OCR) and structured parsing of notes use Apple frameworks (Vision and, where available, on-device Foundation Models / Apple Intelligence). Processing stays on your device when the feature is available; no account or subscription with us is required.

7. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
