James Meredith was the first black student to enter the University of Mississippi in 1962 under armed guard. He matriculated and graduated under intense pressure. There was a riot at the University. Two were killed and hundreds injured.
My mother, Eleanor Bryson Jackson, class of 1945, celebrated her Golden Girl Reunion in 1995 when the class of 1975 celebrated our 20 year reunion. This was a proud and sentimental experience for my mother and me. She was so excited to be recognized by the College as a Golden Girl!!💙
