Welcome to Spell Casters ("we," "our," "us"). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile game on Android and iOS.

By using Spell Casters, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect and process the following types of data:

2.1. Personal Information

• Player Names: Custom names chosen by users, subject to profanity filtering. While we employ filters, some inappropriate words may bypass detection. Despite best efforts, some inappropriate content may not be fully filtered. If you encounter issues, please report them to us.

• Friends & Social Features: If you add friends in-game, we collect friend lists and interactions.

• Chat Messages: If in-game chat is enabled, messages may be monitored for compliance with our community guidelines. Profanity filtering is automated using a custom system, but no human moderation of chat occurs.

• Facebook Integration: If you connect your Facebook account, we collect your Facebook ID for cloud saves and friend list integration.

2.2. Non-Personal Information

• Gameplay Data: Scores, leaderboards, achievements, and multiplayer activity.

• Device Information: Device type, operating system, and other technical data.

• Usage Data: How you interact with the game, including session length, game mode preferences, and features used.

2.3. Financial Data

• If you make in-game purchases (including currency and loot boxes), we collect transaction data. However, payments are processed through third-party providers (Google Play, Apple App Store), and we do not store credit card details.

2.4. Advertising Data

• We use rewarded ads in our game. Ad providers may collect data to personalize ads. All ads are optional, and there are no in-game settings for ad preferences. Users in certain regions may have the option to opt out of personalized ads through their device settings. See Section 6 (Third-Party Services) for details.

2.5. API & Cloud Data

• We connect to Merriam-Webster's School Dictionary API (Grades 9-11) via dictionaryapi.com to retrieve definitions for played words only. The game utilizes a custom profanity filter function to filter out inappropriate words.

• We use PlayFab for leaderboards, user accounts, and cloud save data. PlayFab only stores data related to account creation and in-game cloud storage. No personal data is collected. Leaderboards are retained for the default amount of time that PlayFab stores them and are reset every week.

• Facebook Integration allows users to sync their cloud saves and friend lists using their Facebook ID instead of a device ID. Players can choose to link and unlink their Facebook accounts at any time. Unlinking a Facebook account will cause save data to be linked to the device. Changing devices will reset all save data. Users can provide their Player ID (found in the Player tab in the main menu) to migrate old save data to a new device by contacting us.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data to:

• Provide and improve game features, including multiplayer, leaderboards, and chat.

• Enforce profanity filters on player names and chat.

• Monitor and prevent inappropriate behavior in online interactions.

• Manage and process in-game purchases.

• Serve rewarded advertisements.

• Analyze player behavior to improve the game experience.

• Store user accounts and game progress using PlayFab cloud services.

• Enable Facebook-based cloud saves and friend list synchronization.

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your data under the following legal bases:

• User consent for personalized ads and social integrations.

• Contract performance for multiplayer services and cloud saves.

• Legitimate interest for game improvements and analytics.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell or rent your personal data. However, we may share information with:

• Game Services (Google Play Games, Apple Game Center, PlayFab) for leaderboards, multiplayer, and cloud saves.

• Ad Networks for displaying rewarded ads (see Section 6).

• Payment Processors (Google Play, Apple App Store) for handling transactions.

• Facebook to facilitate friend connections and cloud save functionality.

• Legal Authorities if required by law or to protect users and prevent fraud.

5. Child Privacy

Spell Casters is rated 9+. The game does not currently obtain parental consent for underage players. However, when ads load for the first time, users may be asked to select their age group for ad content. If our game is available to children under 13, we comply with COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) and do not collect personal data without parental consent. Some features, such as chat and friend lists, may be restricted for younger users. Parents or guardians can restrict access to social features (e.g., chat, friend requests) via device settings.

6. Third-Party Services & Ads

Our game integrates third-party services that may collect data:

• Ad Providers: Google AdMob, Unity Ads (for rewarded ads)

• Game Services: Google Play Games, Apple Game Center, PlayFab

• Payments: Google Play Billing, Apple In-App Purchases

• Profanity Filtering: Custom profanity filter function

• Dictionary API: Merriam-Webster's School Dictionary API (Grades 9-11) via dictionaryapi.com

• Social Integration: Facebook (for friend lists and cloud saves)

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data but cannot guarantee 100% security. Always use strong passwords and avoid sharing sensitive information in online chats.

8. Your Rights & Choices

You have the right to:

• Access & Delete Data: Request access to or deletion of your data.

• Opt-Out of Ads: Modify ad preferences in device settings.

• Modify or Delete Your Account: Contact us to remove your account permanently.

• Cloud Save Data & Account Deletion: Cloud saves are retained until a user requests them to be deleted. Requesting account deletion will delete the player’s master account, including all save game data, leaderboard stats, and purchases.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the game after updates means acceptance of the changes.
