Smart Power Electronics Lab

Welcome to SPEL @ IIT Gandhinagar

Let us create a green future together!

Welcome to SPEL@IITGN

We are a group of inspired people who want to accelerate India's Net Zero Transition through our expertise on Smart Power Electronics. 70% of electricity is processed through power electronics (PE) which will grow further in coming years. Revolution in IoT and AI has made it possible to develop a data driven system brain which can enhance the efficiency, reliability and security of PE systems making them smart with low additional costs and high performance .

Meet the PI

Pallavi Bharadwaj is an Assistant Professor in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar. She completed her Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, India and Postdoctoral research training from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA. Pallavi is very passionate about sustainability and strives towards engineering optimized solutions for global energy needs. Her research interests broadly include: Smart power electronics which spans design & development of switched mode power converters, with IoT sensing and AI based controllers; Photovoltaic power conversion including faults and shade-tolerant control; Transportation electrification with focus on fast EV chargers and battery lifetime extension; Green energy storage incorporation using data-driven modeling and  multi-energy optimization.
