Overview
SpeedShield ("the app") is a speed camera alert application for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
We are committed to your privacy. SpeedShield does not sell your data, does not create user accounts, and does not transmit your personal information to any server.
Information the App Accesses
Location (GPS)
SpeedShield accesses your device's GPS location to determine your proximity to speed camera locations. This data is processed entirely on your device. Your location is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
Location access is only active while the app's monitoring service is running. You can stop location access at any time by stopping the service or closing the app.
Bluetooth
SpeedShield accesses Bluetooth to detect when your phone connects to your vehicle. This allows the app to start monitoring automatically when you enter your car. Bluetooth data, including device name and MAC address, is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted externally.
Device Storage
The app stores the following data locally on your device:
- selected vehicle Bluetooth device(s)
- alert distance preferences
- activation mode setting
- trial start date
- subscription status (cached)
- battery optimization status
None of this data leaves your device.
Diagnostic Logs
SpeedShield may store diagnostic logs locally on your device when logging and export features are used for troubleshooting. These logs are stored only on your device unless you choose to export or share them manually.
Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal identifiers.
- We do not create or require user accounts.
- We do not track your driving history or routes.
- We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties.
- We do not use analytics SDKs or advertising SDKs.
- We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, or photos.
In-App Purchases
SpeedShield offers optional subscriptions ($2.99/month or $19.99/year) processed entirely through Google Play. We do not handle or store payment information. All billing is managed by Google in accordance with their privacy policy:

Camera Data
Speed camera locations are sourced from publicly available city data and stored in a GitHub-hosted database. The app downloads this data to your device for local processing. No information about your location or driving behavior is sent in connection with these downloads.
Background Service
SpeedShield runs a background service to provide alerts while you are driving. This service accesses GPS and monitors Bluetooth connection status. The service runs only when active and can be stopped at any time through the app or your device's notification shade.
Children's Privacy
SpeedShield is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Data Retention and Deletion
SpeedShield is designed so that app data is stored locally on your device rather than on our servers.
How long data is retained
The app retains locally stored data, such as Bluetooth device selections, alert settings, cached subscription status, battery-related settings, and locally stored diagnostic logs, until one of the following occurs:
- you clear the app's storage or app data from your device settings
- you uninstall the app
- you delete exported diagnostic files that you previously saved or shared
Because SpeedShield does not maintain user accounts or store this app data on our servers, we do not keep a server-side copy of your in-app location history, Bluetooth pairings, or settings.
How to delete your data
You can delete your SpeedShield data at any time by:
- uninstalling the app from your device
- clearing the app's storage/app data in Android settings
- deleting any exported diagnostic log files from your device or wherever you saved them
If you contact us directly by email, that communication may be retained in our email inbox for support and record-keeping purposes. If you want those support emails deleted, you may request deletion by contacting mf.developments.apps@gmail.com.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
