Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 14, 2026
Thank you for using "Speedometer GPS・Speed Tracker" ("the App"). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the App on iOS and Android. The App does not require you to create an account, and we do not build a customer database or sell any data.
1. Information We Collect
The App does not require account registration and we do not intentionally collect personally identifiable information for our own customer database. However, depending on how you use the App, the following information may be processed:
- Location data (GPS). While the speedometer, HUD or a trip is active, the App reads your device's location in the foreground only in order to calculate your current speed, heading, altitude and trip statistics. The App does not request background-location permission and stops reading location when it is not in use. You can decline or revoke the location permission at any time in your device settings; the App then still runs, but speed measurement and automatic speed limits are unavailable.
- Approximate coordinates sent for speed-limit lookup. To show the speed limit of the road you are on, the App sends your current coordinates to the OpenStreetMap Overpass API, which returns the posted limit for nearby roads. The coordinates are used only to answer that single query; they are not stored on our side, and no identifier of you or your device is attached to the request beyond a technical User-Agent header containing our contact email, which the OpenStreetMap usage policy requires.
- Trip records. If you record a trip, the App saves its start and end time, duration, distance, maximum and average speed, maximum altitude, altitude gain, and an optional human-readable label for the start location. These records are stored only on your device.
- Settings and preferences. Units (km/h or mph), selected speed view, theme, interface language, alert tolerance, sound and vibration preferences, and HUD options are stored only on your device.
- Subscription and purchase data. If you purchase a premium subscription, the purchase and receipt validation are handled by Apple or Google together with our subscription provider, Adapty. We receive the subscription status (active or not), an anonymous subscriber identifier, and basic device and app metadata. We never receive your payment card details.
- Correspondence. If you contact us by email, we process the address and content of your message solely to answer you.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use information only to provide and improve the App's features. Specifically, we use it to:
- Measure and display your current speed in the digital, analog and full-screen mirror HUD views.
- Look up and display the speed limit of the road you are on, and let you set a manual limit as a fallback.
- Trigger over-limit alerts (sound, vibration and on-screen flash) according to the tolerance you configure.
- Calculate, display and save your trip statistics, and show your trip history.
- Remember your settings, units and interface language between launches.
- Determine whether your premium subscription is active, unlock premium features, and restore previous purchases.
- Diagnose technical errors and improve the reliability of the App.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not profile you, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
3. Third-Party Services
The App relies on a small number of third-party services, each of which processes data under its own privacy policy:
- Adapty — subscription management, purchase and receipt validation, and subscription status.
- Apple App Store and Google Play — payment processing, subscription billing, and, if you choose to rate the App, the in-store review dialog.
- OpenStreetMap Overpass API — receives your current coordinates in order to return the posted speed limit of nearby roads.
- Expo — the development platform the App is built on, providing the location, audio, haptics, localization and screen APIs used by the App.
The App contains no advertising networks and no analytics or tracking SDKs.
4. Data Storage
Your trip history, settings, preferences and last known subscription status are stored locally on your device using the device's standard local storage, and are removed when you uninstall the App. We do not operate our own servers and we do not upload your location, trips or settings to any storage controlled by us. Subscription records are retained by Adapty and by the app stores for as long as required to service your subscription and to meet their legal obligations. Speed-limit queries sent to the OpenStreetMap Overpass API are handled by that service in accordance with its own policies.
5. Data Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect the information the App handles. All network requests made by the App are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Because your trips and settings never leave your device, the primary protection for that data is the security of the device itself, so we recommend keeping your device protected with a passcode, biometric lock and up-to-date system software. Please note that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children and is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict the processing of, or delete the personal information relating to you. Because the App stores your data locally, you can exercise most of these rights directly and at any time:
- Delete individual trips or clear your entire trip history from within the App.
- Revoke the location permission in your device settings, which stops all location processing.
- Uninstall the App, which removes all locally stored trips, settings and preferences.
For subscription data held by Adapty or by the app stores, or for any other request regarding your rights, contact us at KallumDanielBrooks@icloud.com and we will respond within the period required by applicable law.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the App's features or in applicable law. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" shown at the top of this page and publish the updated version at this address. Substantive changes will be communicated within the App where required. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
9. Contact Us
If you have any questions, concerns or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or the way the App handles your information, please contact us at KallumDanielBrooks@icloud.com. We will do our best to respond promptly.
By using the App, you agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy.
