Welcome to Speech Lab!
Launched in 2022, the purpose of Speech Lab is to equip individuals with speaking skills to become citizen leaders. Citizen leaders use their knowledge and skills acquired from their experiences to transform communities through civil and civic engagement with others. In a complex society, effective citizen leaders need speaking skills that can adapt to all types of contexts. Speech Lab is committed to providing open access video resources to help citizens develop their speaking skills and find their voice.
Speech Lab was initially established through an Advancing the Discipline Grant provided by The National Communication Association. It was developed through collaboration between faculty, staff and student interns in the Communication Studies Department of Longwood University. The collaborators would especially like to acknowledge the support and contributions of all the talent in the videos, as well as the Communication Studies Department’s Studio Broadcast Managing Engineer.
Speech Lab was developed through a generous grant from the National Communication Association.
