Chapter 11 of the book (in particular, section 11.2, starting on p. 344) contains the detailed description of how to set up and run PEAK. Rather than repeating the detailed explanations of chapter 11, only the two essential steps to be taken for creating a working version of PEAK are repeated here:
(1) Assemble, by referring to page Code, the files pk_code_s8.f90 and aux_routines_v2.f90 and nr_routines_v1.f90 [see→ copyright] into a working directory, and (2) compile pk_code_s8.f90 followed by executing the executable.
This code is set to perform the primary PEAK model validation presented in section 11.4 (i.e., experiment E-I of Table 10.1). An integration over 12 days is thus carried out with the T85L20 baroclinic PEAK configuration, with a time step of 10 minutes. Thus, the exectuable should produce (among others) output as displayed in the context of pk_code_s8.f90 on the page Code. For additional information, the schematic flow diagram (see Fig. 10.1) for PEAK is included below:
