Why You Need 100% Arabica Coffee Beans In Your Life?
There are thousands of varieties of coffee beans but the two most popular varieties of coffee beans are Robusta and Arabica. Robusta is far more popular as it is easy to grow and more robust as compared to Arabica. In simple terms, the Robusta coffee beans can be grown in a variety of environments and are less susceptible to various diseases which means this plant gives far higher yield as compared to other varieties of coffee beans. This is also the reason Robusta is widely considered the most sold variety of coffee beans. However, this does not mean that it is the best in terms of flavor and taste.
Variety Of Arabica Beans
Arabica variety is widely considered as a gourmet or specialty coffee. There are several unique things that make 100% Arabica coffee beans special. One of the unique things about 100% Arabica coffee beans is that it produces a much more desirable flavor as compared to the Robusta variety. Also, it has a much lower caffeine content as compared to the Robusta coffee beans.
Premium Coffee
This is the reason 100% Arabica beans are considered premium coffee. You can easily find a variety of coffee blends that contain Robusta and Arabica in various proportions but it is recommended to buy only 100% pure Arabica beans in order to experience the flavor in its original form.
You may love your coffee but you might not be aware of the fact that the key to flavor in your coffee lies in its oil content which affects the acidity level of its beans. The oils in a coffee bean contain many different types of acidic compounds. These acidic compounds are activated once you add hot water to roasted coffee beans and these compounds are the reason for the bitterness that can be so flavorful or displeasing, depending on the strength.
Robusta Beans
This bitterness is similar to salt in the food. Without a moderate amount of salt, the food tastes bland but a small amount is desirable. Similarly, most people desire some bitterness in coffee but too much acidity or too much bitterness makes the coffee undrinkable. The Robusta beans have almost 2 times the acidity of Arabica variety which means a lot of sugar and cream needs to be added to the coffee to make it palatable.
This is also the reason Robusta beans are preferred for coffee flavored products such as candies and ice creams where the other flavors offset the bitter taste of Robusta coffee beans. In other words, the Arabica coffee beans provide just the right amount of bitterness that most people desire.
Buying Arabica Coffee Beans
It is true that you will have to pay a slightly higher price for buying Arabica coffee beans. This is due to the reason that the Arabica tree needs much more care as compared to other varieties. The Arabica cherries ripen on the ground which means these need to be monitored closely to prevent any spoiling. Also, the Arabica cherries are much more susceptible to insects and fungus as compared to other varieties of coffee.
This makes harvesting Arabica coffee beans much more difficult as compared to other varieties of coffee and this is also the reason Arabica coffee beans are a bit harder to find which reflects in their higher price. However, the higher price is definitely worth the enhanced taste when compared to the other regular coffee beans.
