The Planned Development (PD) zoning designation in Chicago is required to ensure:

1) Adequate public review

2) Encourage unified planning and development

3) Promote economically beneficial development patterns that are compatible with the character of existing neighborhoods

4) Allow design flexibility

5) Encourage the protection and conservation of the city's natural resources.
