The Spatial and Conservation Ecology lab (SpaCE Lab) was set up in January 2023
We are a research group within the Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions at the National University of Singapore. We focus on tropical conservation across Southeast Asia and beyond.
As an interdisciplinary group, we work on a range of topics; these can be generally categorised into three main (overlapping) areas of focus—spatial ecology and conservation, applied ecology, and conservation science and policy. Some of our research projects include:
Conservation biology of peat swamp biodiversity
Impacts of formal and informal area-based conservation measures
Effectiveness of conservation flagship species
Benefits and constraints of green & grey infrastructure
Mapping and assessing impacts of nature-based climate solutions across Southeast Asia
SPATIAL ECOLOGY & CONSERVATION
Utilising geospatial techniques to answer ecological and conservation questions
APPLIED
ECOLOGY
ECOLOGY
Applying ecological knowledge and theories to urgent environmental issues
CONSERVATION SCIENCE & POLICY
Understanding how conservation and land-management policies shape environmental outcomes
