FAQs

Below are answers to some questions we have received.

Question: What does your CCA do?

Answer: In SP Astronomers, we have sessions from 7 pm on every Friday, where we have a quick sharing on astronomy related topic followed by stargazing!

We also have external events like visits to other institutions to interact with their astronomy club as well as overnight stargazing events.

Question: Is SP Astronomers a high commitment CCA/club?

Answer: Nope! Our sessions and events are free and easy, so we won't hound you down for attendence ;)

Swing by and relax under the stars with the club (you may bring your friends along, even if they are not in the club) whenever you are able to!

Question: How are the CCA points awarded?

Answer: Having 80% attendance or higher for attending Friday sessions will get you 10 participation points for that semester, but fret not, you don't need to have 80% attendance to get points from our Friday sessions. Having an attendance between 20% and 80% will get you points from our Friday sessions! However, 20% to 80% attendance will only get you less than 10 participation points.

Signing up for events like Freshmen Orientation Programme(FOP), POLYnesia can get you more points!

We also have CIP events for community service points ;)

Question: Do we need any prior experiences?

Answer: Not at all! Whether you're experienced or new in the field of astronomy, anyone with any level of interest in astronomy are more than welcome to join us.

Question: Do we need to pay for any equipment?

Answer: Nope, all equipment needed for stargazing is provided by our club!

The only fees needed are for events where food is provided, which you will be notified of in the publicity for that event.
