Head Choral Director
Mr. Greg Goedecke has taught at Porter High School since 2019. At PHS, he has founded new choirs, brought choirs to their inaugural UIL competition, and music directed The Wizard of Oz and Cinderella. He has served as the TMEA region 33 Tenor-Bass choir organizer since 2021.
He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Music Education from the University of Houston Honors College and the Moores School of Music. There, he studied voice with Dr. Timothy Jones and conducting with Dr. Betsy Cook Weber. He was with the University of Houston’s Concert Chorale when they won the Grand Prix at the Béla Bartók International Choir Competition in Debrecen, Hungary. He was also with the choir when they sang most recently at the TMEA, NCCO, and National ACDA conventions. He worked with Dr. Dianne Brumley as an undergraduate student conductor for the TCDA convention in 2018, where he was also the recipient of the Bill Gorham Scholarship. He has sung in Gianni Schicci and Les Contes d'Hoffman with the Moores Opera Center.
Mr. Goedecke started singing at a young age with the Houston Boychoir. Since then, he has sung with ensembles such as Bach Society Houston, Houston Men’s Chorus, and Suono Chamber Choir (A TCDA 2022 invited choir). He is proud to have sung with the GRAMMY award winning Houston Chamber Choir since 2019. In 2022, he appears on a CD with Houston Chamber Choir called Circlesong.

Assistant Choral Director
Mr. Benjamin Morgan has taught at Porter High School since 2022. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Music Education with a vocal concentration. There, he studied voice with Terry Patrick-Harris and conducting with Dr. Trey Davis. Mr. Morgan conducted a children’s choir at a local church during college which often performed at nursing homes in the surrounding area. He was also with the Tiger Glee Club when they presented at the 2018 Louisiana ACDA conference. Mr. Morgan was highly involved with the community theater community during his time at LSU. He worked as the Music Director for Oklahoma! In 2020 and Assistant Music Director for Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka in 2019 at Ascension Community Theater. He has sung in Street Scene, La Rondine, L’enfant et Les Sortilèges, and Le Nozze Di Figaro during his time in college.
Mr. Morgan taught at Jackson Intermediate school in Pasadena ISD for two years before teaching at Porter High School. Mr. Morgan’s choirs during the 2021-2022 school year brought home three sweepstakes trophies at UIL, earned two superior ratings at Kemah Choir Days, and won “Best in Festival” at the Shadow Creek Choral Festival. In 2021, Mr. Morgan presented during the 2021 TMEA Convention.
