The spARTanS Marching Corps was formed in 2016 as a way to represent Centennial C.V.I. in the annual Guelph Santa Claus Parade. We have come a long way from that year when we wore football jerseys and built drums from spare parts in our music directors basement.
In present day, we are a marching unit of 50 students who enjoy entertaining, singing, dancing, and playing at parades. We perform in Elora, Kitchener, Cambridge, and Guelph; but are interested in whatever opportunities may present themselves. We also support our school by playing sporting events, assemblies, charity events, and activity days. We play Guelph University Football halftime shows, during timeouts and between periods at Guelph Storm games, and throughout quarters at KW Titans games.
The Drumline portion of the Marching Corps has been combining with percussionists from the school to create indoor marching shows and has been competing in the Canadian Drumline Associations series of performances for 3 years. We host a regional competition at Centennial C.V.I. which welcomes drumlines from all competition levels and categories and was the first drumline competition in Ontario in the post-covid-19 era.
This year we worked hard enough to win the Ontario Provincial Championships held in Brampton, On.
