Max joined SPARKS Swimming & Diving in the Fall of 2024. He brings with him fifteen years of competitive swimming experience, six of which has been spent on deck coaching athletes of all ages and abilities. Every day, he enjoys bringing his passion for competitive aquatics to the pool deck.Â
In addition to coaching the SPARKS, Max serves as an assistant coach for Macalester College Swim & Dive, and runs the Tuesday/Thursday workout groups for Macalester Masters Swimming. He has also previously served as an assistant coach for Edina Swim Club and Riptide Swim Team.
A Minnesota native, he grew up swimming for St. Croix Swim Club in Stillwater. He went on to compete for Lake Forest College Swimming & Diving for four years, during which time he was a 7-time Midwest Conference Champion, Division III national-qualifier, and team captain.
Chris is a Saint Paul native and is thrilled to be on deck as part of the 2024 SPARKS Swimming & Diving Coaching Staff. Chris has been in and around swimming his whole life as an athlete and a coach.
As an athlete he swam for six years at Central Highschool, four years at Carleton College, and for the past ten years as part of the USMS Macalester Masters swim team where he has been breaking USMS MN state records from the 100 free to the 400 IM.
As a coach Chris has spent time on deck coaching USAS age group athletes on and off across this same stretch of time; most recently coaching with the USAS MN Flyers team.
When Chris is not in the pool, he works full time at NAMSA, a medical device clinical research organization as the VP of Global Marketing.
