The Foundation for Self-Discovery and Development (FSDD) is an Egyptian non-profit organization registered under the Ministry of Social Solidarity that works in regenerative living and learning by promoting popular education, conducting critical and applied research, weaving local and global networks to create alternative education imaginaries, and community organizing. FSDD aims to foster an environment that enables critical inquiry, self-reflection, and civic engagement among a diverse pool of learners, from diverse walks of life, host a scholarly cooperative to amplify, embody and co-create critical and popular knowledge, and create spaces for practicing new visions of the world.

The FSDD is constituted by 4 projects: Mesahat, for self-directed learning for children ages 6–12 years old; Mubtadaa which introduce critical social sciences and humanities to adolescents; and the Cairo Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences, which is a legacy project that is spinned off the foundation, to engage higher education students with liberal arts, and finally, SPARKS Egypt, a research policy collaborative to create community dialogue and enhance the status of teaching and learning in the Egyptian education system.
