Spark Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Spark (the “App”) handles information when you use it. Spark is a note-taking and idea-development app that can store notes, organize content, record and transcribe audio, use on-device artificial intelligence, and share selected notes through Apple iCloud.

Information Spark Handles

Depending on the features you choose to use, Spark may handle:

- Notes, titles, formatted text, tags, collections, checklists, dates, favorites, and other content you create.

- Photos, scanned documents, audio recordings, file attachments, and speech transcripts you add to notes.

- A profile or workspace name, profile icon, and optional profile photo you choose in the App.

- Note-related activity needed to provide App features, such as creation dates, editing time, checklist progress, and notification preferences.

- Information needed for iCloud synchronization and collaboration, such as CloudKit record identifiers, share status, and the profile name or avatar shown to collaborators.

Spark does not include third-party advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking technology. Spark does not sell personal information.

How Information Is Stored and Used

Spark uses information only to provide and maintain features you request, including:

- Creating, displaying, searching, organizing, duplicating, exporting, and deleting notes.

- Synchronizing your data between your devices through Apple iCloud and CloudKit.

- Sharing notes with people you choose through Apple CloudKit sharing.

- Recording voice memos and creating speech transcripts.

- Adding user-requested events or reminders to Apple Calendar or Reminders.

- Scheduling local notifications such as Daily Spark prompts.

- Protecting locked notes using Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode.

- Generating summaries, variations, tags, and other writing assistance using Apple’s on-device Foundation Models on supported devices.

Spark does not operate a separate developer server for your notes and does not send note content to a developer-operated artificial intelligence service. On supported devices, AI features use Apple’s on-device model framework. Apple services such as iCloud, CloudKit, Speech Recognition, and notifications are governed by Apple’s applicable terms and privacy policies.

Cloud and CloudKit

Spark uses Apple CloudKit to synchronize app data privately between devices signed into your iCloud account. If you choose to share a note, Spark creates CloudKit records that make the selected content available to the people you invite or to people who receive a share link, according to the sharing permissions shown by Apple’s system interface.

A shared note may include its title, text, tags, emoji, color, due date, share metadata, and collaborator profile information. Your chosen workspace name and optional profile avatar may be shown to other participants in a shared note.

You should share a note only with people you trust. Other participants may view, copy, or edit shared content according to the permissions you grant.

CloudKit information is processed and stored by Apple. The developer does not use CloudKit content for advertising or behavioral analytics and does not intentionally review user content except when necessary to respond to a user-requested support issue, protect the service, comply with law, or investigate misuse.

Photos, Camera, Microphone, and Speech Recognition

Spark accesses these resources only when you choose a related feature:

- **Photos:** to attach an image or choose a profile photo.

- **Camera:** to scan a document or capture content for a note.

- **Microphone:** to record a voice memo.

- **Speech Recognition:** to transcribe recorded or live speech into text.

Photos, scans, recordings, and transcripts are stored as part of your App content and may sync through iCloud. If you add them to content that you share, they may become available to the people participating in that share. Speech recognition may be performed by Apple on-device or using Apple services depending on the device, language, and system availability.

Calendar and Reminders

Spark requests Calendar or Reminders access only when you choose to create an event or reminder from a note. Spark uses this access to write the item you requested. Calendar write-only access does not allow Spark to read your other Calendar events. Reminders access is handled through Apple EventKit and is used to create the reminder you requested.

Notifications

If you grant notification permission, Spark may schedule local notifications for features such as Daily Spark prompts. CloudKit may also use remote notifications to keep shared content current. You can change notification permission in the Settings app at any time.

Face ID, Touch ID, and Device Passcode

Spark uses Apple’s Local Authentication framework to protect notes you choose to lock. Biometric templates and device passcodes are managed by the operating system and are not accessible to Spark.

Data Sharing

Spark does not sell your information and does not share it with data brokers, advertising networks, or marketing companies.

Information may be processed by Apple when required to provide iCloud, CloudKit, Speech Recognition, notification, Calendar, Reminder, authentication, or other operating-system services. Content is also shared with people you select when you use CloudKit collaboration.

Information may be disclosed if reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal process, protect users, investigate fraud or misuse, or protect the rights and safety of the developer and others.

Data Retention and Deletion

App content remains on your device and, when iCloud synchronization is enabled, in your iCloud account until it is deleted or otherwise removed under Apple’s iCloud retention practices.

You can delete individual notes and attachments from within Spark. You can remove a profile photo in the Profile screen. A share owner can stop sharing a collaborative note using Apple’s sharing controls. Deleting the App removes its local data from that device, but synchronized information may remain in iCloud or on your other devices.

To manage or delete synchronized data, use Spark’s deletion controls and the iCloud controls provided in Apple device settings. Underlying Apple Account or iCloud service may need to be directed to Apple.

Your Choices

You may deny or revoke Photos, Camera, Microphone, Speech Recognition, Calendar, Reminders, Face ID, and notification permissions in the Settings app. Some features will not work without the permission they require.

You may choose not to use iCloud sharing, speech transcription, AI assistance, profile photos, Calendar, Reminders, or notifications.

Children’s Privacy

Spark is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed specifically to children. The App does not knowingly operate a service designed to collect personal information from children for advertising or marketing.

Security

Spark relies on Apple platform security, app sandboxing, iCloud and CloudKit protections, and optional device authentication for locked notes. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Keep your device and Apple Account credentials protected, and share notes only with people you trust.

International Use

Apple may process iCloud and other service data in locations described by Apple’s legal terms and privacy documentation. Your use of Apple services is subject to Apple’s policies and your Apple Account settings.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated when Spark’s features or legal obligations change. The updated version will be posted at this page with a revised effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the App or App Store listing when appropriate.
