# Privacy Policy — SparkMate

Garoono ("we," "our," or "us") built the SparkMate app ("App") as a freemium
application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection,
use, and disclosure of information when you use our App.
## Summary
SparkMate lets you chat, voice call, and video call with AI companions. To
generate a reply, **the messages you send are transmitted to Google's Gemini
AI service through our secure servers.** This is the core of how the App
works and cannot be disabled while using AI features.
Your conversation history and your companion's memories are stored **locally
on your device**, not on our servers. Our servers store only your account and
wallet: your diamond balance, subscription tier, streak, display name, and
purchase records.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your conversations to train AI models.
## Information We Collect
### Information we do NOT collect
- We do **not** store your chat messages on our servers. Conversation history
is kept in your device's local storage.
- We do **not** store your companion's memories or story summaries on our
servers. They are kept locally and sent with a request only so the AI has
context for that reply.
- We do **not** record or store audio from voice or video calls.
- We do **not** store camera frames from video calls.
- We do **not** store the photo you provide for Together Selfies or scene
visualisation. It is processed to generate one image and then discarded.
- We do **not** use your conversations, photos, or voice to train any AI model.
- We do **not** collect your precise location, contacts, or health data.
- We do **not** require your real name, phone number, or postal address.
### Information stored on your device only
- Your conversation history with each companion
- Pinned memories and story summaries
- Your companion choices, personality settings and customisations
- Your nickname and the "about you" description you optionally write
- Your photo, if you add one, for Together Selfies
- App settings: language, text size, sounds, App Lock, notifications
Deleting the App removes all of this.
### Information stored on our servers
When you sign in, we create an account record containing:
- An anonymous or provider-issued user ID (Firebase Authentication)
- Your display name, if you set one
- Your diamond balance, subscription tier, and daily streak
- A ledger of diamond purchases and spends
- Records of which media you have unlocked
- Purchase receipts, to verify subscriptions and restore them
### Information sent for processing but not stored
To generate a companion's reply, the following is transmitted to our servers
and forwarded to Google's Gemini API:

Google processes this data under the
[Gemini API terms](https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms) to return a
response. We do not grant permission for this content to be used for model
training, and we do not retain it after the reply is delivered.
**Please do not share passwords, financial details, government identifiers, or
other sensitive personal information in your conversations.**
### Companion images
Images of your companion are generated by AI and stored in our cloud storage
so they can be shown to you again without paying to regenerate them. These
images depict a fictional character, are not linked to your identity, and may
be reused for other users who chose the same companion appearance.
### Information collected by third-party services
**RevenueCat (in-app purchases)** — manages subscriptions and purchases. May
collect an anonymous app user ID, purchase and subscription history, device
type and OS version. See

**Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, App Check, Remote Config)** — provides
sign-in, the account database, abuse prevention, and remote settings. May
collect device and instance identifiers and IP addresses. See
[Firebase Privacy](https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy).
**Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In** — if you choose to sign in this way, we
receive your email address and display name from the provider to identify
your account.
We do not currently include an analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
## Permissions
**Microphone (optional)** — used for voice and video calls so your companion
can hear you. Your speech is converted to text on your device; the resulting
text is sent to generate a reply. Audio is never recorded or uploaded.
**Speech recognition (iOS, optional)** — transcribes your speech on the device
during calls.
**Camera (optional)** — used for video calls and for taking a photo for a
Together Selfie. During a video call, one still frame per turn is sent for the
AI to react to, then discarded. There is no continuous video stream, and
nothing is recorded.
**Photo library (optional)** — used only when you pick a photo for a Together
Selfie, scene visualisation, or your profile picture.
**Notifications (optional)** — reminders and check-in messages from your
companion. Scheduled on your device; you can disable them at any time.
**Biometrics / device passcode (optional)** — used by App Lock to keep your
chats private. Authentication is handled entirely by your device's operating
system; we never see your fingerprint, face data, or passcode.
**Internet (required)** — needed to generate replies, verify purchases, and
sync your balance.
## How We Use Information
- To generate companion replies, voices, and images
- To keep your diamond balance and subscription accurate and tamper-resistant
- To process purchases, restore them, and prevent duplicate crediting
- To send optional notifications you have enabled
- To respond when you contact support
## Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your information. Data is shared only with the
processors needed to run the App: Google (Firebase and the Gemini API) and
RevenueCat, each under their own privacy terms.
We may disclose information if required by law, or where necessary to
investigate fraud, abuse, or a credible threat to someone's safety.
## Data Retention
Your account record is retained while your account exists. Conversation
content is not retained on our servers at all.
**You can delete everything from inside the App:** Settings → Delete Account.
This permanently removes your account record, wallet, purchase history and
unlocked media from our servers and deletes your sign-in credentials. It
cannot be undone, and it does not cancel an active subscription — cancel that
in the App Store or Play Store separately.
## Children's Privacy
**SparkMate is intended for adults only (18+).** It contains AI-generated
romantic and companionship content that is not appropriate for minors. We do
not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has
used the App, contact us and we will delete the account.
## Data Security
- Traffic between the App, our servers, and third parties is encrypted in
transit
- AI provider keys are held on our servers only and are never shipped in the
App
- Your diamond balance and subscription tier can only be changed by our
servers; database rules reject any attempt to change them from a device
- Conversations stay on your device rather than accumulating in a database
- Optional App Lock adds device-level protection to your chats
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot
guarantee absolute security.
## Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete,
export, or restrict processing of your data. You can:
- Delete all server-side data via Settings → Delete Account
- Delete all local data by uninstalling the App
- Revoke camera, microphone, photo, or notification permissions in device
settings at any time
- Contact us with any privacy request
## International Transfers
Our servers run in the `asia-south1` region (Mumbai, India). Third-party
providers may process data in other countries. By using the App you consent to
this transfer.
## Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the new policy on this page and
update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will also be surfaced in the
App.
