Decide:
What experience do my students have with creating anything (slides, poster, etc)?Â
Is there background knowledge I need to give them first? For example, do I need to teach a bit of design/aesthetic basics, or how to prioritize infomation? Do they need a re-teach of author's purpose and/or persuasion technique?
What digital tools do students have available to them? OR How might I have them create their infographic on paper?
Have students had sufficient time to explore and digest already-created infographics so they know what the end product might look like? (NOTE: PLEASE make sure you do some intro activities with infographics before you ask students to create one!)
What parts of this project are most important to you/the teacher for students to learn/master? What are some things you can "let go of" or not focus the most on, at first?
How will students be assessed (rubric, checklist, etc.)? How will you share that assessment criteria with students ahead of time?
How much time can you commit to for this project? (NOTE: Students will need at least some time to plan before the actual creation part.) Account for at least one 90 minute block (or similar) for creation itself.
How will students turn in their final products? Will they be shared with their classmates or hung up for all to see?
