Welcome
Sihyun Park, PhD., RN.
I am Sihyun Park, an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at Chung-Ang University. I earned my PhD in Nursing Science from the University of Washington School of Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chung-Ang University.
My research primarily focuses on gender-based health inequities. I have investigated health and safety issues among vulnerable and marginalized groups of women, and much of my work advocates for systemic change to promote women’s rights and improve their health outcomes within communities. I have also introduced the concept of resilience capacity in vulnerable populations from an ecological perspective.
Gender-based violence is one of my key research areas. With a focus on strengthening community-based solutions, I have developed protocols and educational programs aimed at raising public awareness of gender violence, enhancing bystanders’ willingness to intervene, and improving their supportive competencies. I believe that a healthy community is a powerful protective factor that can strengthen the resilience capacities of violence survivors.
I am well-trained in various qualitative research methodologies, including Grounded Theory, phenomenology, content and thematic analysis, ethnography, and Q-methodology. Through the various qualitative perspectives, I seek to amplify the voices of marginalized populations who experience violence and abuse.
