This Privacy Policy describes how SpareKart ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses,
discloses, and protects information when you use the SpareKart mobile application
and related services (collectively, the "Service"). SpareKart is a global marketplace
for buying and selling used auto parts.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in
this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. WHO WE ARE
SpareKart operates a peer-to-peer marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of
automotive spare parts. The Service is provided through the SpareKart app
(Android package: com.spare.kart).
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect information you provide directly, information generated through your use
of the Service, and limited technical information needed to operate the app.
2.1 Account and profile information
When you register or sign in, we collect:
- Full name
- Phone number (used as your primary account identifier)
- Password (stored in encrypted/hashed form through our authentication provider;
we do not store your plain-text password)
- Countries where you buy or sell ("operating countries")
- Profile details such as display name, feedback rating, and optional profile photo
2.2 Seller and payout information
If you sell on SpareKart, we may collect payment settlement details, including:
- UPI ID
- Bank name
- Bank account number
- Account holder name
- IFSC code
This information is used to facilitate seller payouts and is stored securely on our
backend.
2.3 Marketplace and transaction information
When you browse, list, buy, or sell through the Service, we collect:
- Listing details (part name, category, vehicle make/model/year, condition, price,
description, fulfillment method, and location)
- Listing photos you upload or provide
- Cart contents and order history
- Shipping and billing addresses (name, street, city, state, postal code, country)
- Order totals, shipping method, payment method label, and tracking information
- Saved or favorited listings
2.4 Communications
If you use in-app messaging, we collect:
- Message content
- Message timestamps
- The identity of conversation participants
- Read status for messages
2.5 Notifications
We may store in-app notifications related to orders, messages, listings, and system
updates. If you enable push or email notifications in the future, we may also process
device tokens or email addresses for those purposes.
2.6 Technical and usage information
When you use the app, our infrastructure may automatically collect:
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- IP address and general connection information
- Authentication session data
- Error logs and diagnostic data needed to maintain security and reliability
We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the app.
3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Authenticate you and keep the Service secure
- Enable you to list, search for, buy, and sell auto parts
- Process orders, shipping, and seller payouts
- Display public seller profiles and listings to other users
- Facilitate buyer-seller messaging
- Send transactional notifications about orders, messages, and account activity
- Enforce our terms, prevent fraud, and protect users
- Improve, maintain, and troubleshoot the Service
- Comply with legal obligations
4. HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information in the following circumstances:
4.1 With other users
Because SpareKart is a marketplace, certain information is visible to other users,
including:
- Your public profile (such as name and feedback rating)
- Listings you publish (including photos, price, location, and description)
- Messages you send to buyers or sellers in a conversation
- Information needed to complete a transaction (such as shipping details shared
with a seller or buyer for order fulfillment)
4.2 With service providers
We use trusted third-party providers to operate the Service, including:
- Supabase (authentication, database hosting, file storage, and backend APIs)
- Google Fonts (delivery of typography assets used by the app)
These providers process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards and only as
needed to provide their services.
4.3 For legal and safety reasons
We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to:
- Comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or government request
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of SpareKart, our users, or the public
- Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues
- Enforce our policies or investigate violations
4.4 Business transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of
assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to
this Privacy Policy.
5. DATA STORAGE AND RETENTION
Your data is stored on secure servers operated by our cloud infrastructure
providers. We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or
as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply
with legal obligations.
When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information
within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or for
legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or
financial record-keeping.
6. SECURITY
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect
your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and
row-level security on our database. No method of transmission or storage is 100%
secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Delete your account and associated personal data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
You can update much of your profile information directly in the app. To exercise
other rights, contact us using the details in Section 12.
You may also:
- Log out of your account at any time
- Manage notification preferences in app settings (where available)
8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or the minimum age
required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from
children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please
contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
9. INTERNATIONAL USERS
SpareKart is designed as a global marketplace. If you use the Service from outside
your home country, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed
in countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have data
protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.
By using the Service, you understand that your information may be processed in
such locations.
10. THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND SERVICES
The Service may reference or link to third-party websites, payment processors, or
services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties.
We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them with
information.
11. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the
"Last updated" date at the top of this document. If changes are material, we may
provide additional notice within the app or by other reasonable means. Your continued
use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
