Computers and Electrical Devices Safety Rules
Do not touch equipment that has come into contact with fluids. Although the ESP32 works at 3.3 volts it is plugged into a USB port (5 volts) which is derived from your computer, 120 Volts. With fluids present you don't know where the circuit begins or ends.
When working with power cords, grasp the plastic insulation around the plug.
Wear safety glasses when working with electronic components to prevent injuries caused by short circuits.
Keep your work area neat. You don't want anything falling onto your work. Materials in contact with your work might get hot or cause your circuit to overheat.
Use all of your senses. If it feels warm it is overheating. If it smells then it is burning. If it crackles, well, that is not good. If you see a bright flash it is exactly what you think it is!
Wash your hands after working with electronics. The materials used to make circuits are not good to eat.
Unplug the power when you are done. You do not want something to go wrong and you do not want a young sibling touching a circuit when you are out of the room.
Double check your wiring and pay close attention to the power source and the ground. If the two meet directly bad things happen.
If it is not working there might be a problem with the wiring. Unplug the circuit first before you touch it or move leads.
Do not hide your work. A responsible adult in the house should know that you are doing these tutorials and they should be satisfied that you are following all of these protocols. Ask the adult to read this page with you and satisfy any concerns they may have.
