Based out of Denton, TX, we offer classes to children in Spanish. The primary goal is exposure to Spanish in a play-based setting. Younger learners are natural language learners. We use the opportunity to build on their interests by playing, singing, exploring and moving in the language of Spanish.
The classes are designed by sessions from 4-12 weeks long. Themes, days, times, and locations vary. Check out what we are offering now below!

Resources will be provided for parents to reinforce at home and continue the play! This session will be best for kids ages 5-9 with some Spanish knowledge.

Mama y Yo: Mondays Aug 4 - 18 from 9:30-10am $30
Mamá y Yo is a class for any caregiver: moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, to interact with their little bundle using the language of Spanish. Young children learn best through play with their loving caregiver. Holding, bouncing, moving, talking, tickling, giggling will sure to be fun for both you and baby (or toddler).
We will be singing familiar songs in Spanish along with traditional Spanish children's songs. We will play small games, say nursery rhymes, read simple stories so your child has Spanish exposure. But it won't stop with our class. My goal is to provide caregivers with the encouragement and resources to start or continue with their language journey at home. This class is great if you know little or no Spanish, we'll guide you where you are at. For parents who know a bit more Spanish, use this as a fun time to bond with your peque. You likely have a specific reason or multiple reasons you want to share Spanish with your child. With this community, you will get some ideas to practically implement Spanish speaking in your household so your little one grows up with Spanish language and culture in their everyday life.

In this play-based class, students will learn about animals in a different habitat each week. The habitats will be geography based focusing on a different continent or region. There will be familiar animal themed songs in Spanish, familiar games, crafts and movement. While the habitat, animals, and continents will change every week, there will be repetition of key concepts, words, or phrases to increase understanding in Spanish. The majority of instruction will be in Spanish with some English clarifications. Classes will be held in a home in South Denton.
Included is a visit to the Dallas zoo with the instructor! This will help bring the learning to life in a real-world situation. The intent of the trip is to enjoy the zoo, but while looking at the animals, the instructor will use some of the Spanish vocabulary to name, talk about characteristics, or ask simple questions, just as a parent naturally would on a zoo visit. This trip will need to be scheduled between December- March on weekdays with the instructor. Included is admission to the zoo for you, your child, additional siblings (up to 4 total). Carousel ride tickets and mini-train tickets at the zoo are included as well. Parent would need to cover parking for the day which is $12.
If you have questions reach out by email or fb message. If you want to join part-way through the class, we can pro-rate.

I believe in a full immersion approach for youngsters. I mean, how did they learn their first language? But I like to call my classes semi-immersive. It's not as fun if it feels overwhelming. I provide as much comprehensible input as possible, i.e., pictures, movements, gestures, facial expressions, Total Physical Response (TPR), familiar topics, repetition. I give more complicated directions or clarify in English when needed without using strict translation. I don't want kids to only think árbol means tree, I want them to associate árbol with 🌳
We will explore, sing, dance, move, speak, learn, craft, and sprout every week we meet!
"I really appreciate the fun, interactive way of teaching that works for many different ages. Our kids truly enjoy class every week and seem to pick up on the songs quickly."
"Class is great! Kiddo loves it and has fun! Love Katie's passion and energy towards teaching"
"Katie has done a great job of keeping it fun, engaging, and mixing it up with games, forest walks, songs, etc!!
Hi! I'm Katie Ridley. Educator for 15 years working primarily with second language learners. Mom for 5 years working primarily with first language learners on a journey to bilingualism.
I'm passionate about bilingual education and hope to share that with kids. I understand what works in language learning from both research and experience. I work to integrate it seamlessly so kids are just having fun in a new language.
I have been learning and using Spanish for 22 years- imperfectly using the language as much as I can and working at it daily. While I am not a native Spanish speaker, I know what it it takes to learn another language. I use that knowledge to teach others.
