SpaceVerse intends to be a decentralized financial technology and physical payment ecosystem where intrinsic value is derived from memes. Memes can communicate ideas, build communities through humor, and connect people around the world. They spread virally and form a decentralized cultural movement. SpaceVerse will build its financial infrastructure on this universal meme language, creating a foundation for finance that is shared, unshakable, and universally understood.
Definition of "Meme"
1.
an element of a culture or system of behaviour passed from one individual to another by imitation or other non-genetic means.
2.
an image, video, piece of text, etc., typically humorous in nature, that is copied and spread rapidly by internet users, often with slight variations.
With a focus on memes, the focus is also on ordinary people, not just billionaires, corporations, physical payment, and governments. We aim to provide average people around the world with a way to participate in the space economy, learn about exciting new space technology, and profit from it in various ways through our cryptocurrency ecosystem.
In addition to being backed by the intrinsic value of memes, SpaceVerse intends to be multiplanetary and interplanetary. This will be accomplished by setting up nodes to validate transactions on CubeSats orbiting Earth, the Moon, Mars, Venus and other bodies throughout the solar system, as well as on planet and moon surfaces where practical. These nodes will be powered by solar panels in the inner solar system and radioisotopes in the outer solar system and they and they will communicate blockchain data with laser beams and be highly redundant for reliability. This will allow for financial markets and commerce to exist throughout the Solar System and beyond, without any governments, banks, or other third parties needed, although such entities may make use of the networks as well.
We envision a spacefaring future of post-scarcity where endless gold and platinum is mined on asteroids (with water being more valuable though). Who knows what else....Robots will do all the raw material mining, heavy manufacturing, and large-scale food production, human lifespan will be extended indefinitely, and space-based solar and solar breeders, and fusion and/or fission energy will be in abundance. In this economic landscape, the things of the most value will be what brings life, laughter, happiness and brings human beings together....such as meme art and Earth's unique biosphere and civilization. After all, SpaceVerse intends to be a decentralized financial technology ecosystem and a physical payment where the intrinsic value is derived from memes.
Elements of this futuristic vision are shared, with some variation, by the leading space technology companies. SpaceX most notably has stated as its mission "The Company was founded in 2002 to revolutionize space technology, with the ultimate goal of enabling people to live on other planets." Elon Musk has stated his goal is to send 1 million people to Mars. As of now, SpaceX was awarded a lunar lander contract by NASA using the Lunar version of their Starship which is in development. This will make possible by lowering launch costs by orders of magnitude by achieving full, rapid reusability of all launch vehicle and spacecraft components, including booster rockets which are normally discarded for each launch at a cost of hundreds of millions of dollars. Combined with increasing the payload efficiency by building much bigger rockets, this will get the cost per kilogram down to reasonable levels. SpaceX has already reduced the cost to orbit from $54,000/kg of NASA's Space Shuttle (which was only partially reusable and required months of refurbishment between launches at great expenses) to $2,700/kg with the Falcon 9. They have the stated goal of reaching a cost to orbit of only $10/kg when the new Starship reaches its final form.
SpaceVerse
The Meme-Backed Interplanetary Financial Ecosystem
The first use of cryptocurrency to pay for a space launch was in May 2021 when Geometric Energy Corporation paid SpaceX in Dogecoin for a rocket launch of a spacecraft named Doge-1. This set a precedent: "SpaceX launching satellite Doge-1 to the moon next year - Mission paid for in Doge - 1st crypto in space - 1st meme in space," Musk said. In addition, Vice President of Commercial Sales Tom Ochinero for SpaceX said "This mission will demonstrate the application of cryptocurrency beyond beyond Earth orbit and set the foundation for interplanetary commerce." These developments provide further evidence of the potential of the crypto-meme economy in the future and while Dogecoin was the first, it has many limitations as a currency which we believe SpaceKing could be well suited to argument. While we intent on integrating with Doge into our ecosystem, SpaceVerse will also provide governance, physical payment, smart contracts, internet-level scalability, and true enterprise-grade features, quantum-resistance and privacy.
In addition to SpaceX, Blue Origin has made it a goal to achieve full rapid reusability of launch vehicles, but for a slightly different reason: "Blue Origin believes that in order to preserve Earth, our home, for our grandchildren, we must go to space to tap its unlimited resources and energy." They also have their sights set on buildings a moon base for scientific exploration and potential mining and manufacturing purposes. There are several others as well, such as Planetary Resources, which plans to mine asteroids for precious metals, Bigelow Aerospace which builds inflatable space station habitats, among others.
Once these companies and others build out the infrastructure for low cost launch, habitation, robotics, mining and manufacturing industries in space, there will be strong need for system of commerce, smart contracts, physical payment, and finance. SpaceVerse intends to be that system. We will also use the capital raised by the SpaceVerse financial ecosystem to invest in our own space exploration initiatives or for financing other space-related ventures. Many problems in human space flight remain to be solved, including faster more efficient propulsion to cover the immense distances in a reasonable amount of time, artificial gravity and radiation shielding for human health, and better systems for food production along with water, air, and waste recycling. SpaceVerse intends to be deeply invested in all aspects of these technologies as well through our financial ecosystem.
Inspiration
SpaceVerse is inspired by the success of Dogecoin and its community and intends to build on what Doge began to unlock the true potential of community-driven memes to drive monetary value.
Another major inspiration of SpaceVerse is Elon Musk who has embraced Dogecoin and some other cryptocurrencies, non-fungible token artwork (NFTs) and art and music combined with the possibilities of science, software, space exploration, and multiplanetary settlements.
The value of meme culture that has arisen from the internet is best exemplified by the idea of spontaneous community building. Dogecoin, which was the original meme coin, began as a joke.
