Frequently Asked Questions
How do I start playing?
On first launch, a welcome screen walks you through the basics: tap a planet to learn about it, launch your rocket toward it, steer with the on-screen joystick, hold the thrust button to accelerate, and slow down to land safely.
You can revisit this guide anytime — open the Hangar (top right of the main screen) and tap "How to Play" under the Help section.
How do the controls work?
AstroFlight supports both touch controls and external game controllers.
To steer, drag the on-screen joystick, or use the left stick on a controller.
To thrust, hold the flame button, or use the right trigger or A button on a controller.
To explore the solar system, pinch, drag, and rotate the view.
Any MFi or Bluetooth controller paired to your device should work automatically once connected.
Why does my rocket keep crashing?
Crashes happen when your rocket hits a planet's surface while moving too fast. Each planet has its own gravity, and heavier planets like Jupiter and Neptune pull harder as you approach, so you'll need to ease off the thrust earlier than you might expect.
If you're learning the controls, try Mercury or Venus first. Their lighter gravity makes for a gentler landing window while you get a feel for steering and thrust timing.
What do credits do, and how do I earn more?
Credits are earned by landing successfully on a planet — tougher, higher-gravity planets pay out more. Spend credits in the Hangar to unlock new rockets with more thrust and fuel capacity, which make distant or high-gravity planets easier to reach.
Credits are part of the game's progression system only. They have no real-world value, and nothing in AstroFlight requires real-money purchases beyond the initial download.
I ran out of fuel mid-flight. What happens?
Running out of fuel doesn't end your mission immediately — your rocket will keep drifting under the target planet's gravity. If you drift too far off course without enough fuel to correct, the mission is lost and you'll need to relaunch.
Watch the fuel gauge in the cockpit display — it turns red when running low, which is your cue to start your final approach.
How do achievements work?
AstroFlight tracks four achievements based on which planets you've landed on: your first landing, conquering the inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars), conquering the outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune), and the Grand Tour — landing on all eight.
Check your progress anytime from the Hangar.
Does AstroFlight collect my data?
No. AstroFlight doesn't collect, store, or transmit any personal information. There's no account system, no analytics, and no internet connection required — everything runs and saves locally on your device.
The app is frozen or won't launch. What should I try?
First, try force-closing AstroFlight and reopening it. If that doesn't help, restart your device and make sure you're running the latest version of iOS supported by your device.
If the issue continues, email us at patelshashwat0@gmail.com with your device model and iOS version so we can dig in.
