Most Sk8Houston events will roll-out close to the hotel, but not all. Renting a car will give you the most flexibility, but staying at Sk8Houston HQ gives you option to get by on a combination of public transportation and ride sharing:
To get to/from the airports:
George Bush (IAH) to/from downtown: there two great Metro bus options!
Hobby (HOU) to/from downtown: there several Metro bus options, but they will be less direct than what IAH can offer.
Don't know what to wear? We got you. Grab your 2026 Sk8Houston gear here.
Staying in Houston for a bit? We've collected some of our favorite Houston spots. Pack out your visit with Space City Skaters' hand-picked sites and eats!
SK8Houston is designed for skaters with some experience on their wheels. If you're still working on basics, this might not be the best fit just yet. Safety and enjoyment are key, so please assess your skills honestly before joining us on the streets.
Our organizers build routes with safety in mind, but SK8Houston is a skate-at-your-own risk event. You are responsible for your own safety. At a minimum, we expect you to follow traffic rules and the lead's instructions, wear protective gear and high-viz clothing, and look out for each other. Check out our Safety and What to Expect page for more.
Pack your safety gear—helmet, pads, and for night skates, a strong flashlight! Stay hydrated (you’ll need it!), and it's helpful to bring a backup pair of shoes in case you want off your wheels. We want you safe, comfy, and ready to roll for all four days!
We're praying to the skate gods we don't have to worry about this. But we'll pull out our best backup plans if the weather doesn't cooperate.
Although some of our events will either leave from the hotel or be easily skateable from the hotel, not all will. Car rentals will give you the most flexibility to get around, but rideshare options also work.
We love the little ones, but this event is all about the big skaters. For everyone's safety and to keep the vibe just right, this meet-up is strictly 18+.
SK8Houston 2026 keeps the wheels turning on a tradition that's been years in the making. Thank you to Houston's OG street skating crews: Urban Animals, Inline Swine, Street Hawks, and Skate Trash - who brought the world to our streets most recently in 2020 and 2023. Here's to keeping the legacy alive and rolling!
